Kalki Sequel to Begin Shoot in October, Wrap by Mid-2027
The much-awaited sequel to Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is set to move into its next major phase, with the regular shooting reportedly scheduled to commence in October. Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Ashwini Dutt under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner, the sequel is being mounted on a significantly larger scale.
Prabhas will return as the central protagonist, while Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are also expected to reprise their prominent roles. Following the phenomenal success of the first instalment, expectations surrounding the sequel have reached new heights.
Kalki 2898 AD created a unique cinematic world by blending science fiction, Indian mythology and futuristic storytelling. The film went on to become a major blockbuster, earning widespread appreciation from audiences and critics while also receiving National Award recognition.
Given the scale and ambition of the sequel, director Nag Ashwin has reportedly spent considerable time on pre-production, developing the story, characters, visual world and technical requirements for the next chapter. The filmmaker is now gearing up to bring the much larger vision to the sets.
Prabhas and the other principal actors are expected to begin shooting their portions from October. The makers are planning an extensive production schedule, with the ambitious target of wrapping up the entire shoot by mid-2027.
With a successful first chapter setting the foundation, the sequel is expected to expand the Kalki 2898 AD universe with a bigger canvas, enhanced visual spectacle and a more expansive narrative. As the regular shoot approaches, the project continues to remain one of the most anticipated upcoming Indian films.
