Khairatabad Ganesh 2026: 69-Ft Bada Ganesh Draws Devotees in Hyderabad
Hyderabad’s iconic Khairatabad Ganesh has once again become the centre of attraction as the city celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with grand devotional fervour. The 2026 edition of the famous Khairatabad Bada Ganesh stands 69 feet tall and has been installed as Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati, drawing devotees from across Hyderabad and neighbouring regions.
The towering idol is one of the biggest attractions of Hyderabad’s Ganesh festivities every year. This year, the magnificent five-faced form of Lord Ganesha has been designed with a five-headed serpent depicted above the deity, adding to the spiritual grandeur and visual appeal of the idol.
The 2026 Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations commenced on September 14, with elaborate arrangements made at Khairatabad to welcome thousands of devotees. The first puja for the 69-foot idol is being performed by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, further adding significance to this year’s celebrations.
A Grand Tradition of Khairatabad
The Khairatabad Ganesh festival has been an integral part of Hyderabad’s cultural and devotional landscape for decades. The idol has grown into a major annual attraction, with lakhs of devotees visiting the pandal to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
Sculptor Chinnaswamy Rajendran, who has been associated with the creation of the Khairatabad Ganesh idol for around four decades, continues to play a key role in bringing the massive idol to life.
The enormous idol and the beautifully decorated pandal have transformed Khairatabad into a major pilgrimage and festive destination. The celebrations combine devotion, art, tradition and community participation, making the Khairatabad Ganesh festival one of Hyderabad’s most anticipated annual events.
Lakhs of Devotees Expected
With the festival beginning on September 14, authorities have made extensive arrangements to manage the expected crowds and traffic around Khairatabad. Special traffic measures, pedestrian routes and parking arrangements have been planned as large numbers of devotees are expected to visit the iconic idol during the celebrations.
The festival will culminate with the grand immersion procession, when the massive Khairatabad Ganesh idol will be taken towards Hussain Sagar amid devotional chants and a massive gathering of devotees.
The 2026 Khairatabad Ganesh once again stands as a symbol of Hyderabad’s deep-rooted devotion, artistic heritage and vibrant festive spirit. With its imposing 69-foot height and distinctive Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati form, this year’s idol promises to remain one of the biggest highlights of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Telangana.
