“My Biryani Character in ‘The Paradise’ Is Very Serious : Sampoornesh Babu
Natural Star Nani’s highly anticipated Pan India period action entertainer ‘The Paradise’ is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on September 24. Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, the film has already generated significant buzz with its songs, glimpses, and teaser receiving an excellent response from audiences.
Sampoornesh Babu, who plays a key role in the film as Nani’s best friend, interacted with the media and shared interesting details about his character, his experience working with Nani and Srikanth Odela, the challenges he faced for the role, and the film’s grand scale.
You have surprised everyone with your Biryani character in ‘The Paradise’, haven’t you?
I received a call from director Srikanth Odela’s team. I met him and he narrated the ‘Biryani’ character to me. I found it very interesting and completely new. I have never played a character like this before. It is a very serious role and is completely different from all the characters I have played so far.
In the film, I play Nani’s best friend. My character will be present throughout the movie, and I believe it will be a fresh experience for the audience.
You are known primarily for comedy roles. How did you feel about taking up such a serious character?
If I had received a character like this three years ago, perhaps some of the mistakes I made in my career could have been avoided. Working with Nani and Srikanth Odela was a wonderful experience for me.
I have never worked on such a big film before. The makers placed a lot of trust in me, and I put in my best efforts to live up to their expectations.
How was your experience working with Nani?
Nani made me feel very comfortable. This is the first time I have worked for so many days on such a big film. I learned a lot from him on the sets.
Nani’s dedication is remarkable. Whenever I performed well in a scene, he would appreciate me. Working with him was a very memorable experience.
We heard that Sai Rajesh played a role in bringing this opportunity to you?
Yes. Sai Rajesh garu called me and told me that I would receive a call from Srikanth Odela’s office and asked me to speak to them and take up the character. Sai Rajesh and Srikanth Odela are very good friends.
You previously worked under Mohan Babu’s banner, and now you are sharing screen space with him. How does that feel?
I am extremely happy. I had been waiting for a long time to act alongside Mohan Babu garu. When I was told that we had scenes together in this film, I was thrilled. It felt like a long-standing dream had come true.
Did you face any physical challenges while preparing for the character?
I was asked to lose weight for the role, and I did that. I also grew my hair and beard. I followed whatever the director asked me to do and made sure I transformed myself according to the requirements of the character.
I also decided not to take up any other film until I completed the shoot of ‘The Paradise’. I received a few offers during that period, but I told them that I would take them up only after completing this film. I wanted to give my complete attention to ‘The Paradise’.
What can audiences expect from your character?
Just like the Paradise biryani is amazing, the film will also be amazing. My character will be even more amazing! (Laughs) You will discover what the character is all about when you watch the film in theatres on September 24.
Srikanth Odela has designed every character with great clarity. Every scene and every character has importance in the film. The emotions and action sequences are going to be outstanding.
The songs ‘Aaya Sher’ and ‘Yesha Nagula Katta’ have already received an excellent response. These songs can be heard everywhere, and the response has been phenomenal.
How was your experience working with producer Sudhakar Cherukuri?
Sudhakar garu took very good care of us and made everyone feel comfortable. He has mounted the film on a grand scale. The world-building in ‘The Paradise’ is going to be spectacular.
I am also very happy with the remuneration. Among all the films I have worked on so far, ‘The Paradise’ is the film for which I received my highest remuneration.
What can you tell us about your upcoming films?
I want to explore different kinds of characters. I am looking forward to taking up roles that offer something new and interesting. An announcement regarding an exciting project will be made soon.
