“Romanchakam” Is a Fun Entertainer for All: Pranay Reddy Vanga
Presented by blockbuster filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced under the banner of Bhadrakali Pictures, Romanchakam stars Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in the lead roles. Produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga and directed by debutant filmmaker Venugopal Reddy, the film promises a refreshing blend of romance, comedy, friendship and suspense.
The youthful entertainer is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on September 3. Ahead of the release, producer Pranay Reddy Vanga spoke about the film, its characters, the director, music and his upcoming projects.
A Story That Connected With Our Sensibilities
“We are not the kind of people who approach film production with a very serious corporate mindset, setting up teams and following a particular formula. We had listened to a few stories earlier, but we decided not to pursue them because they did not connect with our sensibilities.
“When we heard this story, we found humour, thrilling elements and fun situations involving friends. We felt it had the potential to become an entertaining film and decided to take it up. Venugopal has been travelling with us for the past three to four years, and his narration really impressed us.”
Venugopal Proved Himself With One Scene
Pranay Reddy Vanga revealed that director Venugopal Reddy’s filmmaking style is completely different from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s.
“There is a huge difference between Sandeep’s style of filmmaking and Venugopal’s style. In fact, they are almost like two opposite poles. However, Venugopal narrated the story from a common ground, and we really liked it.
“We asked him to shoot one scene and come back to us. He executed it extremely well. After seeing the output, we gained confidence that he could handle the entire film effectively.”
A Character-Driven Youthful Entertainer
According to the producer, Romanchakam is primarily a character-driven film revolving around Sumanth Prabhas’s character.
“The story revolves around a young man and what happens in his life after completing his engineering. It explores his journey, his love story and the confusion and situations that arise among his group of friends. Overall, the film offers plenty of entertainment.
“The runtime is around 2 hours and 20 minutes, but the film moves at such a fast and enjoyable pace that audiences will not feel the passage of time. There is no boredom anywhere.”
Music Will Be a Major Highlight
Pranay Reddy Vanga also praised composer Vasuki for his contribution to the film.
“Vasuki has blended the music beautifully with the story and delivered wonderful songs. Music has always received a good response in our films, and I believe Romanchakam will also impress audiences musically.”
Sandeep Reddy Vanga Did Not Interfere in the Making
Clarifying Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s involvement in the project, the producer said that the blockbuster director gave the team complete creative freedom.
“Once we approved the project, Sandeep did not interfere in the making of the film. He was busy with Spirit. After the film was completed, he watched the first cut and was very happy with the output.
“The film has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. Youth and family audiences can watch it together without any concerns. Personally, I enjoy comedy films a lot. If I really like a comedy, I tend to watch it repeatedly.”

Natural Comedy Without Forced Situations
The producer highlighted the film’s organic humour and the chemistry between its main characters.
“The director has captured the relationship and situations between the four main characters very well. There is no forced comedy anywhere. The humour is natural and organic, which makes the audience laugh effortlessly.
“Venugopal is also a very producer-friendly director. Even when we offered to spend a little more on the film, he told us that whatever we were providing was sufficient and that he did not need anything beyond that. He completed the film within the given requirements.”
Strong Performances From the Entire Cast
Pranay Reddy Vanga expressed confidence in the performances of both the lead actors and the supporting cast.
“Both the hero and heroine have performed very well. The actors who played their friends and the other important characters have also delivered good performances. The technicians are newcomers as well, but everyone worked with tremendous passion.
“We shot the film in Hyderabad and Chennai, while the story is primarily set in Hyderabad. The slang used in the movie is easy for everyone to understand. It feels natural and resembles the way we normally speak.”
On Censorship Rules
Speaking about censorship, Pranay Reddy Vanga said that regulations differ from country to country.
“In the US, censorship is handled under the leadership of people from the industry, whereas in India, it comes under the government. Considering our traditions, customs and the beliefs of our people, certain censorship rules have been put in place. From the government’s perspective, those rules are justified.
“If filmmakers are aware of the regulations, they can take the necessary precautions during the filmmaking process. Censorship rules are also updated from time to time.”
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Upcoming Projects
Talking about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s current commitments, Pranay Reddy Vanga said the team’s primary focus is on Spirit.
“Sandeep is always busy with his work. After the release of Animal, he got some time to relax. We have currently heard two more stories, but they are still on paper. At present, our entire focus is on Spirit. Once that is completed, we will think about our next projects.
“Next year marks 10 years since the release of Arjun Reddy. We are planning to re-release the film on that occasion with a few additional scenes.”
Around 40% of ‘Spirit’ Completed
Pranay Reddy Vanga also shared an update on Spirit.
“Our collaboration with T-Series has been very successful. They are wonderful people and have a lot of trust in us. Around 40 percent of Spirit has been completed so far, and Prabhas has worked on the film for around 40 days.
“If we come across good scripts, we will definitely produce small-budget films as well.”
With its youthful characters, natural comedy, romance, friendship and thrilling elements, Romanchakam is positioned as an entertainer aimed at both young audiences and families. The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on September 3.
