Prabhas Reflects on Baahubali’s Global Impact After 10 Years
A decade after Baahubali: The Beginning revolutionized Indian cinema, Prabhas continues to enjoy unparalleled global recognition, with the blockbuster franchise remaining one of the biggest milestones in his illustrious career. Reflecting on the extraordinary journey in Baahubali: The Torch Bearer, Prabhas opened up about how the film transcended languages, cultures, and geographical boundaries, creating a legacy that continues to resonate even ten years later.
Sharing some of his most memorable experiences, the actor said, “I have had people come up to me in Italy and say my name. Even in Peru, where I had gone for some charity work, the kids told me how much they loved Baahubali. After Baahubali, the effect was madness.”
Prabhas also recalled an unforgettable incident involving visionary filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, highlighting the film’s incredible global reach.
“Someone in Norway went up to Rajamouli sir and said, ‘I think you are a director.’ Sometime later he goes, ‘I think you are the director of Baahubali.’ All the places Baahubali had reached was just magic,” he shared.
Speaking about how the film permanently changed his life, Prabhas humorously reflected on losing the anonymity he once enjoyed while travelling.
“When I wake up in a new country and people still recognize me, I call Rajamouli sir and say, ‘Won’t you allow me to travel in this lifetime? Don’t I deserve a personal life?’ Earlier we would go to Mumbai or Delhi to get away. That’s not an option anymore. Now wherever we go in the world, someone comes up and says, ‘Baahubali.'”
