‘Ghaayapadda Simham’ Promises Fresh Fun & Dark Comedy – Director Kashyap Srinivas
Actor-director Tarun Bhascker, known for his unique and refreshing content, is all set to entertain audiences with ‘Ghaayapadda Simham’, directed by Kashyap Srinivas. The film is presented by Pawan Sadineni and produced by Kalyan Chakravarthy Manthina, Bhanu Kiran Pratap, Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni, and Umesh Bansal under the banners of Saptaswa Media Works, POV Stories, and Zee Studios.
Faria Abdullah and Manasa Chowdary play the female leads, while JD Chakravarthy appears in a key role. The promotional content has already created a strong buzz. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1.
On this occasion, director Kashyap Srinivas shared interesting insights about the film during a media interaction.
Journey into Filmmaking
Kashyap revealed that his journey began during his college days in 2010, when the short film trend started gaining momentum. Initially, he aspired to become an actor and attended several auditions, but faced repeated rejections.
He then decided to prove himself through short films. During this process, he developed a strong interest in writing, direction, and editing. After working on short films, web series, and films, he is now making his directorial debut with ‘Ghaayapadda Simham’.
Why Tarun Bhascker?
The director explained that the story doesn’t require a typical hero. The protagonist is someone who takes himself very seriously, but the audience finds humor in his behavior. Tarun Bhascker was the perfect fit for such a character.
Balakrishna Reference
Kashyap mentioned that the dialogue “Navvaku… Idi serious matter” and the word “Simham” in the title naturally remind audiences of Balakrishna.
He added that using such a powerful image for a character like Tarun Bhascker creates an interesting contrast, making it more relatable and entertaining.
Story Insight
The film follows a man who travels to the U.S. for love but gets deported and returns to India. What led to his deportation and the decisions he makes out of frustration form the core of the story, generating a lot of fun and comedy.
JD Chakravarthy plays ‘Dharma,’ a character involved in illegal activities. The way his character intersects with Tarun’s role adds an engaging layer to the narrative.
Dark Comedy Elements
Kashyap compared the tone to films like Money, where characters see themselves as heroes. Similarly, in this film, every character believes they are the hero, while the audience enjoys the humor arising from their seriousness.
Working with Directors as Actors
Working with Pawan Sadineni, JD Chakravarthy, and Tarun Bhascker—who are also directors—was an advantage, he said. Their understanding of filmmaking helped in executing scenes effectively.

Kashyap hinted that there is scope for a sequel, and the idea is already under consideration.
