Prasanth Varma Missed Out, Will Boyapati Srinu Make a Mark in Bollywood?

Prasanth Varma Missed Out, Will Boyapati Srinu Make a Mark in Bollywood?

Telugu directors making a successful transition to Bollywood is a rare phenomenon. However, whenever it has happened, the impact has largely been positive. Most recently, Gopichand Malineni ventured into Hindi cinema and surprised many with a decent debut. His film Jaat, despite featuring an aging and faded star like Sunny Deol, managed to collect nearly ₹85 crore net at the box office. Malineni’s mass sensibilities struck a chord with North Indian audiences, earning him considerable goodwill.

Inspired by this success, several other Telugu directors reportedly explored Bollywood opportunities. While some projects generated early buzz, most failed to move beyond the discussion stage. Now, fresh industry reports suggest that another Tollywood filmmaker is eyeing a Hindi film move—director Boyapati Srinu.

After the disastrous outcome of Akhanda 2, there is significant curiosity around Boyapati’s next move. Earlier rumors hinted at a possible collaboration with Allu Arjun, but those plans never materialized. With Allu Arjun currently committed to big projects under directors Atlee and Lokesh Kanagaraj, and considering the setback Boyapati faced with Akhanda 2, such a combination now seems highly unlikely.

Given this backdrop, industry talk suggests that Boyapati Srinu is exploring Bollywood options for his next project. Reports indicate that he is planning to approach Ranveer Singh, who recently delivered the mega blockbuster Dhurandhar. This potential collaboration has sparked interest, especially regarding how Boyapati—known for his high-voltage, logic-defying action narratives—would pitch a story to Ranveer Singh. There is also curiosity about the communication aspect, as Boyapati’s Hindi and English narration skills are often said to be limited.

Interestingly, Ranveer Singh has long expressed a desire to work with a Telugu director. At one stage, he was almost confirmed for a project with Prasanth Varma. That film even progressed to the look test and poster shoot phase before being shelved at the last minute due to creative differences.

Now, if Ranveer Singh does end up teaming with Boyapati Srinu, it would be a completely different cinematic experiment. Industry observers are keenly watching to see what kind of story Boyapati presents, how convincingly he narrates it, and whether he can successfully rope in Ranveer Singh for this ambitious crossover.
