‘Kotha Malupu’ Is a Turning Point in My Life: Bhairavi Ardhya Deka
Actress Bhairavi Ardhya Deka, who is making her Telugu debut with Kotha Malupu, says the film marks a significant milestone in her career and personal journey. Starring Akash, son of renowned singer Sunitha, alongside Bhairavi in the lead roles, the film is directed by Shiva Varaprasad and produced by Thati Balakrishna. Ahead of its theatrical release on June 12, the actress interacted with the media and shared her experiences of entering Tollywood, learning Telugu, and transforming herself into a Konaseema village girl for the role.
Hailing from Assam, Bhairavi revealed that her passion for cinema began at a young age. Growing up watching films, including Telugu movies, she nurtured a dream of becoming an actress and worked relentlessly to achieve it.
Speaking about how she landed the role in Kotha Malupu, Bhairavi said she spent nearly three years attending auditions while simultaneously focusing on her studies. Despite not knowing Telugu initially, she remained determined and gradually learned the language through continuous practice and interaction with Telugu-speaking people. She credits her perseverance and hard work for earning the opportunity.
In the film, Bhairavi plays Varalakshmi, a cheerful and innocent village girl from Konaseema. Describing the character as natural, relatable, and emotionally engaging, she said it provided her with a strong platform to showcase her acting abilities.
To prepare for the role, Bhairavi immersed herself in the culture of Konaseema. She stayed in the region for nearly a month before shooting began, carefully observing local traditions, mannerisms, dialects, and lifestyles. The actress said she was captivated by the scenic beauty of the region, especially its coconut groves, rich culture, and cuisine.
“The lifestyle in Assam is completely different from Konaseema. I wanted to make my performance authentic, so I spent time understanding the people and their way of life. Many people who have watched the film tell me they never felt I was from Assam, which is a huge compliment for me,” she shared.
Discussing the challenges she faced, Bhairavi admitted that mastering the Godavari-region dialect was the toughest task. Shooting during the monsoon season also presented difficulties, but she successfully overcame them with the support of the cast and crew.
She praised director Shiva Varaprasad for patiently guiding her through every scene and helping her understand the emotional nuances of the character. She also appreciated co-star Akash for making her feel comfortable throughout the filming process.

Bhairavi expressed her admiration for Telugu cinema, saying she has been a fan of the industry since her school days. She particularly enjoys the emotional depth and storytelling style of Telugu films. To strengthen her craft, she completed a six-month acting course at Natarang Theatre in Hyderabad.
Among Telugu stars, she cited Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu as her favorite actors, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Rashmika Mandanna are the actresses she looks up to the most.
Talking about Hyderabad, Bhairavi said she has fallen in love with the city’s hospitality and, of course, its famous Chicken Dum Biryani.
The actress revealed that she has already watched Kotha Malupu three times and is extremely satisfied with the final output. According to her, the film offers a complete entertainment package with family emotions, comedy, suspense, and engaging drama that will appeal to audiences of all age groups.
She also expressed her willingness to work in OTT projects, emphasizing that a compelling story and a meaningful character matter more to her than the platform itself.
When asked about glamour in cinema, Bhairavi responded thoughtfully, saying glamour may be an important aspect of the industry, but true success comes from acting talent, strong performances, and wise role selection. She hopes to build a long-lasting career through meaningful characters and quality films.
Concluding the interaction, Bhairavi thanked Telugu audiences for the encouragement and affection they have shown her. She requested movie lovers to watch and support Kotha Malupu in theatres and expressed confidence that the film will connect with viewers.
From a young girl in Assam chasing cinematic dreams to making her debut in Telugu cinema, Bhairavi Ardhya Deka’s journey reflects determination, passion, and perseverance. With Kotha Malupu set to hit screens, the promising actress is eager to begin an exciting new chapter in her career.
