Rajinikanth’s ‘Dharman’ Unveils Powerful First Look, Grand Launch Held in Chennai
Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated new film, Dharman, has officially gone on floors today with a grand launch ceremony in Chennai. Produced by Raj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the prestigious project unveiled its title and a striking first-look poster, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about announcements in Indian cinema.
The first-look poster, released with the intriguing tagline “The Deadly Doctor,” showcases Rajinikanth in a never-seen-before avatar. Dressed in surgical attire and sporting dark sunglasses inside an operation theatre, the Superstar is seen holding a blood-stained scalpel with a mysterious smile on his face. The stylish and intense look has generated tremendous excitement among fans and moviegoers.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Dharman is the historic collaboration between two legends of Indian cinema—Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. Sharing a friendship and cinematic journey spanning over five decades, the two icons are coming together for the first time in a producer-actor association. Produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran under the RKFI banner, Dharman marks Rajinikanth’s first film with the prestigious production house, making it a landmark project in RKFI’s illustrious 46-year history.
The film is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, one of the most promising young filmmakers in the industry, known for his unique storytelling style. The movie also stars popular actress Simran and versatile performer Raashii Khanna in key roles alongside Rajinikanth.
Adding to the film’s massive appeal is an accomplished technical team. Internationally acclaimed composer Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music, while National Award-winning action choreographers Anbariv are designing the film’s action sequences. Niketh Bommireddy handles cinematography, Karthik Rajkumar serves as the production designer, Pradeep E. Ragav is the editor, and Annadurai is the art director. Disney has also joined the project as a co-producer.
The film’s shooting commenced today in Chennai in the presence of the cast, crew, and several prominent personalities from the film industry.
Speaking at the launch event, Kamal Haasan said, “Rajinikanth and I share a friendship and journey that spans nearly 50 years. We have always wanted to work together on a film, and after many years of discussions, that dream is finally becoming a reality—not with one project, but two. Today, the industry needs good and successful films, and we are committed to delivering one.”
Rajinikanth expressed his happiness about collaborating with RKFI, saying, “I am delighted to be doing this film for Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films International. Ashwath Marimuthu has crafted an excellent story. When Kamal placed complete trust in my judgment regarding the script, it made me feel even more responsible. I wanted him to hear the story first, and only after he approved it did we move forward. Ashwath is an exceptionally talented director, and I have complete confidence in him and the entire team. After Petta, it is wonderful to reunite with Simran. The film has strong characters, entertainment, thrills, and Anirudh’s outstanding music. With everyone’s blessings and God’s grace, I am confident that Dharman will become a grand success.”
The launch ceremony was attended by several eminent personalities from the film industry, including Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Anbuchchezhian, R.K. Selvamani, Lingusamy, and senior representatives from leading media and entertainment organizations. The grand event further amplified the excitement surrounding Dharman, setting the stage for one of the biggest cinematic spectacles in the making.
