SS Rajamouli’s Special Tribute To Singeetham Srinivasa Rao; Purchases First Ticket Of Sing Geetham

SS Rajamouli’s Special Tribute To Singeetham Srinivasa Rao; Purchases First Ticket Of Sing Geetham

Much before Sing Geetham reached theatres, its unique story had already captured the imagination of celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli. In a special interaction with producer-filmmaker Nag Ashwin and music director Devi Sri Prasad, Rajamouli spoke about his admiration for legendary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and the extraordinary creative journey behind the much-awaited musical fantasy.

Rajamouli revealed that he first heard the film’s core idea nearly three decades ago through his brother and acclaimed composer MM Keeravani. The concept left a deep impression on him and remained unforgettable over the years.

“I still remember listening to the story for the first time around 1995 or 1996. It was astonishingly original, bold, and completely out of the box. A film built on such an eccentric and daring idea needed a filmmaker with a similarly fearless imagination. Nag Ashwin was the perfect person to bring that vision to life,” Rajamouli said.

For Nag Ashwin, Sing Geetham began as a heartfelt tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most innovative storytellers. However, as the project evolved, it became much more than a tribute. He explained that the film gradually immerses audiences into its world, allowing them to connect with its emotions beyond the novelty of its musical format.

“Once viewers settle into the story, the musical aspect becomes secondary. They stop questioning why characters are singing and become fully invested in the emotional journey,” Nag Ashwin shared.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad described Sing Geetham as one of the most unconventional and creatively challenging projects of his career. Unlike traditional films, the musical landscape of the movie was created even before the cameras started rolling.

“We built an entire musical universe in advance. During the process, I composed hundreds of tunes. It was an exciting challenge and a completely different experience from anything I had done before,” DSP said.

Adding a memorable moment to the event, SS Rajamouli purchased the first ticket of Sing Geetham. The gesture symbolized not only his confidence in the film but also his immense respect and admiration for Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, whose boundless creativity has inspired generations of filmmakers.
