“Kara Is a Solid Family Drama with Strong Emotional and Thrilling Elements” – CH Satish Kumar
With Kara gearing up for its theatrical release on April 30, 2026, the film is steadily gaining momentum in the Telugu market. Starring Dhanush and directed by Vignesh Raja, the film is being presented in Telugu by CH Satish Kumar under Vigneswara Entertainments.
Having previously distributed notable films like Arjun Reddy, Kabali, Singham 3, Khakee, and Salaar, Vigneswara Entertainments has built a strong foothold in Telugu distribution. Now, Satish Kumar is bringing Kara to Telugu audiences with high confidence.
In an exclusive interaction, CH Satish Kumar opens up about the film, its strengths, and his journey.
Q: Tell us about your journey into the film industry.
Satish: I’m from Visakhapatnam, and I started small with film distribution. Gradually, I grew into handling bigger projects. In Uttarandhra, I distributed films like Arjun Reddy, Kabali, and Singham 3. I also released Dhanush sir’s Dharmayogi (Telugu version of Kodi), which performed well. Later, I distributed Khakee. From then on, I’ve aspired to move into production as well.
Q: Are you working independently or with partners?
Satish: I’m doing this independently.
Q: What made you acquire Kara? Was it Dhanush’s market?
Satish: Not entirely. Today, content is the biggest driving factor. Of course, Dhanush sir’s popularity adds value, but I chose this film primarily because of its strong content.
Q: Dubbed films sometimes carry risks in Telugu. Did that concern you?
Satish: Every film has its own journey. Raayan worked well in Telugu, and even though Idli Kottu had good content, it didn’t reach audiences properly. I’ve taken extra care to ensure Kara connects better with Telugu viewers.
Q: It’s said you were very persistent in acquiring this film…
Satish: (smiles) For good content, everyone shows interest early. But yes, I strongly believed in Kara and pursued it consistently. That conviction helped me secure the rights.
Q: How is the business shaping up so far?
Satish: We’ve already recovered around 80% of the investment, which is very encouraging.
Q: The trailer hints at a bank robbery. What can audiences expect?
Satish: I won’t reveal too much, but it’s about a man caught in difficult circumstances and how he rises above them. The bank robbery is just one part—it’s not a heist film. The core lies in family emotions, survival, and intense drama. Every family will relate to it.
Q: What challenges did you face in your journey?
Satish: Until you succeed, everything feels like a challenge. I made sure none of those challenges became setbacks.

Q: How are you planning the Telugu release?
Satish: We’re releasing it territory-wise. Dil Raju is handling Nizam, and Alankar Prasad sir is distributing in Krishna district. Ceeded is divided among multiple distributors.
Q: How wide will the release be?
Satish: Around 400+ theatres are confirmed. If everything aligns, including a Hindi release, it could go beyond 600 screens.
Q: Why retain the Tamil title Kara for Telugu?
Satish: The protagonist is named Kara Swamy, and people call him Kara. It’s a relatable name, so we felt no need to change it.
Q: Did the director’s previous work influence your decision?
Satish: Absolutely. Por Thozhil was an edge-of-the-seat thriller. It gave me complete confidence in the director’s storytelling.
Q: How was your interaction with Dhanush?
Satish: Dhanush sir is very happy with the film and extremely confident it will be a blockbuster and set new benchmarks.
Q: Is Kara a character-driven film?
Satish: Not entirely. While the lead character is strong, the story also involves the village, its people, and several interconnected elements.
Q: The fuel crisis shown in the trailer feels very relevant…
Satish: The story is set during the Gulf War, when a fuel crisis occurred. It’s not the main plot but an important backdrop that adds realism and relatability.
Q: How has the music been received?
Satish: We composed two songs specifically for Telugu, and the response has been excellent. “Kannamma,” written by Ramajogayya Sastry, adds emotional depth to the story.
Q: What’s next for you?
Satish: I’m currently in talks for Peddi. It should be finalized soon.
Q: Finally, how would you describe Kara?
Satish: Kara is a solid family drama packed with thrilling elements. Dhanush sir’s character feels very real, and every family will connect with his journey.
