Adivi Sesh’s ‘Dacoit’ Wraps Shoot, Set for April 10 Release
After delivering back-to-back pan-India blockbusters, Adivi Sesh is set to appear in a completely new avatar with the upcoming film Dacoit. For the first time, Sesh will be seen in a rugged, mass-oriented role. The film stars Mrunal Thakur as the female lead, while Anurag Kashyap plays a key role. The film marks the directorial debut of Shaneil Deo. It is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, with Sunil Narang as co-producer, and presented by Annapurna Studios.
The promotional content released so far has received an excellent response from audiences. Dacoit is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 10. The film has now completed its shooting, and the makers organized a Shoot Wrap Press Meet on the film set to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Adivi Sesh said:
“Dacoit is a film made in a completely new genre. Recently, we have stopped telling pure love stories in cinema. But audiences today are actually craving a good love story. In fact, a love story itself has become unique in today’s times. This film is a love story told through thrilling action, making it a fresh experiment in storytelling.
If the story demands it, I am ready to do anything as an actor. Even the ‘Rubaru’ song in this film perfectly suits the character and the narrative. This film will excite audiences, and by the end of the movie, everyone will feel emotional. The emotions in the film will strongly connect with viewers.
It’s a movie that can be watched with families—I myself will watch it with my sister. It’s a love story blended with action. The story revolves around two former lovers who are separated, and what they realize during their journey together becomes something very special. When guns and bullets surround them, the emotional connection between the two characters becomes even more intense and unique.
With today (March 11), we completed the shoot in 149 days, while the story itself took nearly a year to write. The title was something Shaneil and I came up with together. Since robbery is an important element in the story, we felt the title Dacoit suited it perfectly.
I narrated the story to Anurag Kashyap during Naga Chaitanya’s wedding celebrations, and he immediately agreed to act in the film. The idea of including the song ‘Kanne Pittaro’ came from Supriya garu, and it worked out wonderfully.
We shot the film in Telugu and Hindi, and some scenes in the Hindi version have a slightly different treatment. The climax was shot with a massive outdoor unit, and I’m really excited to see how it appears on screen.
The film also features incredible actors like Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Sunil, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and Zarina Wahab. It’s an honor to have Anurag Kashyap in this project. This is a genuine film, and I look forward to meeting everyone in theatres on April 10.”
