Yamini Bhaskar Shines as a Strong, Independent Woman in ‘Psych Siddharth’

Young hero Sri Nandu is coming up with his next film ‘Psych Siddharth’, backed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Directed by Varun Reddy, the film is produced jointly by Spirit Media and Nandunes Keep Rolling Pictures, with Sri Nandu and Shyam Sundar Reddy Tudi as producers.

Designed as a youth-driven entertainer loaded with Mad Max-style madness and high-energy moments, Psych Siddharth features Yamini Bhaskar as the leading lady, while Priyanka Rebecca Srinivas, Sakshi Athre, and Maunika play significant roles.

The teaser and trailer have already received an excellent response. The film is gearing up for a grand release on December 12. As part of the promotions, heroine Yamini Bhaskar interacted with the media and shared her experience working on the project.

How did this project happen? What was your reaction when you heard the story?
“After Nartanasala, I took nearly a two-year break. Post-Covid, I was thinking about what kind of films and roles I should choose. One of Varun’s friends, who belongs to my community, used to join me on daily walks. That’s when he narrated this story to me.

He told me about a divorced woman raising her child and asked if I would take up such a role. It felt totally new. I had never played such a character before.

Later, when I met director Varun and heard the full narration, I loved the way he presented it. I play a very strong, independent woman, and the role offers immense scope for performance. I’m confident this film will bring me many more opportunities.”

After the teaser, comparisons were drawn to Arjun Reddy. Your thoughts?
“Maybe the poster styling gave that vibe, but the story has absolutely no connection to Arjun Reddy. The two characters—Arjun Reddy and Siddharth—are completely different.”

Tell us about your on-screen journey with the hero.
“My character’s name is Shravya. She walks away from a toxic relationship and chooses to rebuild her life independently. At the same time, Siddharth is dealing with a breakup and moves into a basti to escape everything.

That’s where we connect, and a beautiful love story begins. It’s a very natural, emotionally relatable romantic track.”

How was it working with Nandu?
“Nandu is extremely respectful towards women—very genuine, very kind. Working with him was truly a pleasant experience.”

How do you feel after watching the final output?
“The film has come out wonderfully. We are all extremely happy with the output.

It was a huge surprise for all of us when Suresh Babu garu took up the film. Seeing our poster displayed at Ramanaidu Studios made me very emotional. Varun and I even clicked pictures that day.”

Director Sai Rajesh also praised your performance?
“Yes! He watched the film and appreciated my character in a very special way. He said I had taken up a role with great performance scope and advised me to focus strongly on films from now on.”

Nandu said the film faced hardships during production. How was the support from the producers?
“The team provided everything the film needed. I completely owned the movie. Since I was on a strict diet, I brought food from home. We didn’t have caravans—just sat at the location, shot our scenes, and had fun throughout.”

What was the response after the trailer?
“I received so many messages from friends who were happy to see me back on screen. They encouraged me to continue doing films.

Honestly, the day the teaser released, I made up my mind to continue acting consistently. I’m also open to doing OTT projects if I get good roles.”

You worked on Katamarayudu. How was your experience with Pawan Kalyan?
“On the first day itself, I had a scene with Pawan Kalyan garu. Since I’m trained in classical dance, he spoke to me for almost 15 minutes about my journey. I also worked in Agnyaathavaasi, though my scene didn’t make it to the final cut.

He is incredibly grounded—both as a star and as a human being. I have immense admiration and respect for him.”
