Sundarakanda will keep audiences smiling throughout- Nara Rohith

“Sundarakanda will keep audiences smiling throughout”- Nara Rohith

Hero Nara Rohith’s milestone 20th film is Sundarakanda. It is directed by debutant Venkatesh Nimmalapudi and produced by Santosh Chinnapolla, Goutham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankali under the Sandeep Picture Palace (SPP) banner. Vrutti Vaghani and Sri Devi Vijay Kumar are the female leads. The teaser, songs, and trailer have already created strong buzz. The film is releasing on August 27. On this occasion, Nara Rohith shared details in a media interaction.

Was Sundarakanda started before Bhairavam?
– Actually, my comeback was supposed to be with Sundarakanda. We began script work in 2022 itself. When director Venkatesh first narrated the idea, I was a bit worried about how audiences would receive it. But at the same time, Bro Daddy was released, which opened a window. That film beautifully dealt with an awkward point. I felt if we treated it in a similar style, it would work. Venkatesh brought 30 scenes, which I really liked, and that’s how the project began. This film keeps a smile on the audience’s face throughout. It’s lighthearted, lively, and filled with fun.

You have played several serious roles in recent years. How does it feel to do a humorous character again?
– Venkatesh has been traveling with me for five years. We had several discussions for this film, which helped a lot. For today’s generation, this is a very fresh story. My character also has a new shade. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. Sundarakanda is a very clean film. The treatment of scenes feels fresh. It’s a film everyone can connect with.

– My character has certain limitations. Even after crossing 30, he searches for a girl with the exact qualities he desires. That makes the character complicated, and the fun arises from that complication.

– I enjoyed making this film a lot. From day one, I had clarity about how the film would shape up. Staying within the character arc was definitely very challenging.

Is this an age-gap love story?
– I cannot reveal the conflict in the love story now. The five qualities the hero looks for are quite peculiar. You need to watch them on screen. The comedy arises from the situations he falls into while searching for those qualities.

About director Venkatesh?
– Whatever story Venkatesh envisioned, he translated it wonderfully onto screen. He has written a unique story and is a very sensible director.

You are also a partner in production. Was it because your friends were involved?
– I started this project under my production. Santosh is my cousin; he always wanted to work on a good project, so he joined. Goutham and Rakesh also liked the story narrated by Venkatesh and came on board. The four of us united because of the story.

About Siri’s cameo?
– Her cameo will be very interesting. I consider her my lucky charm. Bhairavam was a decent hit, and I believe this film will also achieve success.

On music director Leon James?
– Leon is a wonderful person. He gave terrific songs and background score. After watching the film, the songs will connect even more. Dear Ira is my favorite song.

About Naresh’s character?
– He is a very experienced actor who can portray any role brilliantly. Even here, his character will be very impressive. Satya’s character will also feel very fresh.

Your favorite genres?
– I like romantic comedies and sports dramas. If I get a good sports drama with an inspirational character, I will definitely do it.

We hear you are doing another film with Venkatesh?
– Yes. Even before this, we had written a story, which we definitely want to do. That too is a good love story.
