Queen Anushka Shetty’s most-awaited action drama Ghaati is gearing up for release. Starring Vikram Prabhu in the male lead, the film is directed by visionary filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi. Produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under the First Frame Entertainment banner, in association with UV Creations, the film also features Chaitanya Rao in a key role. With impactful promotional content, Ghaati has already created huge buzz. The film is set for a grand release on September 5. On this occasion, actor Chaitanya Rao interacted with the media and shared his experience.
How is your character going to be in Ghaati? How did you get this project?
-
Producer Rajeev Garu called me and asked me to meet director Krish. Krish Garu narrated the story, and it was fantastic. Later, he explained my character, which surprised me a lot—I couldn’t imagine myself in such a role. It’s a very serious and violent character. We worked for almost two days trying different looks before finalizing this one.
This is your first time playing a villain. How did it feel?
-
This isn’t a regular villain role. Krish Garu told me he doesn’t see this as a villain character but rather as one of the main roles. My role is very crucial and memorable. I strongly believe it’s going to be an iconic character in my career.
Krish Garu gave me a lot of freedom. The character has a unique mannerism, and I suggested a few ideas as an actor. He too gave excellent inputs, which shaped the role beautifully.
How was the experience shooting in the Eastern Ghats?
-
We shot the film in the Eastern Ghats, which was quite challenging. There’s a waterfall sequence that was extremely risky but turned out extraordinarily well. Anushka Garu performed that sequence with great courage. Audiences will find it very thrilling to watch.
How was it working with Krish Garu?
-
Every actor wishes to work with Krish Garu, and I feel very fortunate to get this opportunity. He listens to everyone’s suggestions and gives a lot of creative freedom. He strongly believed I was perfect for this character, and I think I lived up to his trust.
Your thoughts on playing a villain for the first time?
-
Nowadays, audiences equally appreciate heroes and villains. As an actor, one should explore all kinds of roles. Actors like Satya Dev and Fahadh Faasil are doing diverse characters. I too want to be part of that space.
How was your experience working with Anushka Shetty?
-
Honestly, I couldn’t believe it at first. I’m a huge fan of Anushka Garu. Chintakayala Ravi is my favorite movie—I must have watched it 30 times. She’s the biggest lady superstar and a very sweet person. Working with her was a wonderful experience. I used to think seeing her once in real life would be enough, but acting alongside her is a truly memorable moment.

What can audiences expect from the visuals and music?
-
Manoj is a wonderful technician, and he has delivered stunning visuals. After this film, he’s bound to get even bigger opportunities. Similarly, music director Sagar Nagavalli has given excellent music. Together, the visuals and music will be on the next level.
How was your working experience with UV Creations?
-
Working under UV Creations was a great experience. They treat every actor with the same respect and care as they do for big stars. Their hospitality is amazing—they literally treat actors like gods. They are truly great producers.
Have you signed any new projects?
-
Mayasabha received a wonderful response, and now Ghaati is about to release. Both are the biggest pillars of my career. Directors Krish Garu and Deva Katta Garu told me not to rush into new projects until these two films come out. They assured me that after these, my career will take a new turn. I believe their words will come true.
Currently, I’m working on a film with Kranti Madhav Garu, and I also have a few more scripts ready. Official announcements about them will come soon.
