“8 Vasanthalu is a pure love story. I played a very memorable role. The emotions in the film will connect with everyone.”
8 Vasanthalu, directed by Phanindra Narsetti, is a concept-driven film produced by the pan-India production house Mythri Movie Makers. Actress Ananthika Sanilkumar plays the lead role. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, 8 Vasanthalu promises to deliver a soulful cinematic experience. The promotional content released so far has received a positive response. The film is set for a worldwide release on June 20. On this occasion, lead actress Ananthika Sanilkumar shared insights about the film in a press meet.
The promotional material makes it feel like the story revolves entirely around you. Is that the case?
– It’s a woman-centric story. While the female character is central, all the other characters are equally important. Every role has significance, and every character has layers.
Why did you choose this film after MAD?
– I was waiting for a good script. This story had everything I was looking for. I always wanted to do a beautiful love story with action. This script offered all of that. My character had great scope for performance.

I deeply connected with the story when I first read it. I literally cried. That’s how emotional it is. I play a character named Shuddhi Ayogya, who is both a writer and someone with a martial arts background.
What’s special about this love story?
– It’s a very pure love story. It feels like watching a real-life journey. Audiences of all age groups will be able to relate to it.
How did you prepare for the role?
– I already have a black belt, but for this movie, I learned Kalaripayattu. I also trained in Wing Chun, a Chinese martial art. I trained for three months under Master Anji for it.
What about your co-actors?
– Hanu Reddy is a very good actor. He picks things up quickly. Ravi is also very talented — he can deliver even lengthy dialogues with ease.
About director Phanindra Narsetti?
– Phanindra sir is like a mentor to me. I learned so much from him during this journey. He has a very clear vision and is a passionate filmmaker. Working with him was a great experience.
Shuddhi Ayogya seems like a deeply emotional character. How did you feel after the shoot?
– After coming home and looking in the mirror, I would feel like I missed something. The character’s behavior and essence kept coming back to me. It’s a very memorable role.
How was it working with Mythri Movie Makers?
– It was a wonderful experience. I’m thankful to the producers for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. They supported me throughout the journey. It takes a lot of courage to back a film like this.
Tell us about the music.
– Hesham has given two beautiful songs. Both tracks have been loved by the audience. The background score is also outstanding.
If not an actor, what would you have become?
– I want to be a politician someday. That’s why I’m studying law. But not now — maybe when I turn 40! (laughs)
Do you have any dream roles?
– I prefer to take on powerful and strong roles.
