Celebrating the Legacy of BA Raju: Telugu Cinema’s Icon on His 65th Birth Anniversary

Remembering the Celebrated Producer and Film Journalist BA Raju on His 65th Birth Anniversary

BA Raju, a towering figure in the Telugu film industry for over four decades, is fondly remembered on his 65th birth anniversary, January 7th. His multifaceted career as a film journalist, PRO, magazine and website head, and producer left an indelible mark on the industry.

The Journey of a Film Enthusiast

BA Raju began his illustrious journey as a Public Relations Officer (PRO), managing the publicity of Superstar Krishna. With Krishna’s encouragement, Raju transitioned into film journalism, showcasing his exceptional talent. His work with esteemed daily magazines such as Andhra Jyoti, Jyoti Chitra, Samabha, Shivaranjani, and Pimmata laid the foundation for his later ventures.

In 1994, with the support of his wife B Jaya, Raju launched Super Hit Weekly, which became a sensation in the Telugu film newspaper landscape. Remarkably, Raju maintained the magazine’s consistent publication for 27 years until his passing, never missing a single issue. Beyond journalism, Raju played a pivotal role in guiding prominent directors, heroes, and heroines throughout their careers.

Contributions to the Telugu Film Industry

Raju’s impact extended to over 1500 films where he managed publicity, significantly contributing to their success. Known for fostering close relationships across the film industry, Raju was respected and loved by all, regardless of their seniority.

In 2001, as the Telugu film industry shifted its base to Hyderabad, the Super Hit Administration Office followed suit. That same year, Raju, along with his wife Jaya B, ventured into film production by establishing the RJ Cinemas banner. Their debut film, Premalo Pavani Kalyan, was directed by Jaya B. The duo went on to produce several successful films including Chantigadu, Premikulu, Gundamma Gari Manavadu, Sawaal, Lovely, and Vaisakham.

The Digital Frontier

Embracing the digital era, Raju founded the IndustryHit.com web portal, which has become a reliable source for timely updates on the Telugu film industry. His social media presence was equally formidable, with his popular X (formerly Twitter) account amassing nearly 700,000 followers.

Legacy and Influence

Raju’s contributions were not limited to film promotion. He was a president of the Film Critics Association and a pillar of support for film journalists, offering financial and emotional assistance. His encyclopedic knowledge of film statistics and history made him an invaluable resource to the industry.

Among his many close relationships, his bonds with Evergreen Superstar Krishna and Superstar Mahesh Babu stood out. Raju’s dedication to the industry was unparalleled, with his thoughts revolving around movies 24/7.

A Tribute to a Legend

As we remember BA Raju on his 65th birth anniversary, we acknowledge the irreplaceable void his absence has left in the Telugu film industry. His son, Sivakumar B, is now carrying forward the legacy by revamping the RJ Cinemas banner, with plans to announce new films featuring popular star heroes soon.
