Surekha Joins Yadadri Temple Trust Board
Konidela Surekha Appointed to Yadadri Temple Trust Board; Move Triggers Political Discussion
The Telangana government has constituted the governing board of the Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple (YTD) on the lines of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), appointing an 18-member trust board with a two-year tenure.
MSN Group Chairman Manne Satyanarayana Reddy has been named Chairman of the board. The government has also inducted several prominent personalities, including Labour Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy and Konidela Surekha, wife of Megastar Chiranjeevi.
Surekha’s appointment has drawn attention in political circles, with discussions emerging over the inclusion of well-known personalities on the prestigious temple board. The development comes amid an already charged political atmosphere in Telangana, where regional representation and governance have remained key subjects of debate between the ruling Congress and the opposition.
Political observers believe the appointment could become a topic of discussion, particularly as opposition parties have previously raised concerns over issues relating to Telangana’s interests and representation. However, no official objection has been made regarding Surekha’s induction into the YTD board.
Supporters of the decision point out that the TTD Trust Board has traditionally included members from Telangana and other neighbouring states, making the inclusion of eminent personalities from diverse backgrounds a well-established practice. Viewed from that perspective, appointments to the Yadadri board are seen as being in line with a broader convention followed by major temple administrations.
With the new governing body expected to oversee the administration and development of one of Telangana’s most prominent temples, the focus is likely to remain on ensuring effective management and the continued growth of the Yadadri shrine. Meanwhile, Surekha’s appointment has added a political dimension to what is otherwise an administrative decision, making it a subject of wider public and political discussion.
