“Raju Weds Rambai Continues Its Strong Box Office Run Across All Centers” – Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati
“Raju Weds Rambai,” starring Akhil Raj and Tejaswini, has turned out to be a solid box office success, earning unanimous appreciation from audiences and critics alike. Presented by Dr. Nageshwar Rao Poojari, the film is produced by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi under Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales. Directed by Sailu Kompati, the film was released theatrically through Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works.
The movie opened strongly in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, registering an impressive Rs.7.28 crore gross in just 3 days, prompting producer–distributors Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati to share their excitement about the film’s performance.
Bunny Vas: “The Film Has Exceeded All Expectations”
Producer–Distributor Bunny Vas expressed delight at the film’s momentum:
“Raju Weds Rambai is performing much better than expected. Some films don’t need collection talk, but this one truly deserves it. The film has grossed Rs.7.28 crore so far, with ₹5.02 crore coming from Nizam alone. Yesterday’s collection itself was Rs.2.17 crore. In fact, single screens in Telangana are doing better than multiplexes.
In Andhra, the first two days were slow, but yesterday the numbers picked up well — Vizag: Rs.10 lakh, East: ₹9 lakh, Krishna: Rs.12 lakh, and Guntur: ₹13 lakh. Ceded is also performing decently.
Like Little Hearts, this film is also rocking in C-centers. With iBomma shutting down, our box office numbers shot up. The Rs.99 ticket pricing worked brilliantly for us. Initially, many exhibitors and distributors were hesitant, but now nearly 70% have accepted the model.
If the film touches Rs.50 crore, I won’t be surprised. Small films shouldn’t chase long runs — they should reach maximum audience in minimum time.
I appreciate ETV Win for supporting this project. Their success rate with new directors is nearly 90%. Working with Vamsi has always been successful — I give ideas, and he executes them perfectly.
We enjoyed editing Mithra Mandali, but somehow that fun didn’t translate to theatres. The Great Pre-Wedding Show initially came to us; had we taken it up, we would have released it much better.”
Vamsi Nandipati: “Audience Love Is Our Biggest Win”
Producer–Distributor Vamsi Nandipati shared insights on the reception:
“We are very happy with the audience response. Especially young women are deeply connecting emotionally with this film. We are expecting four times returns on our investment.
Compared to Andhra, Nizam is performing much stronger. Our team has already started visiting theatres, and in the next two days, the entire team will join. Seeing the growing demand, we have added more screens.
Although we joined the project late, the real credit goes to ETV Win, who believed in this film from day one. I always felt the climax would strongly engage audiences.
The collections are consistently strong across multiplexes as well as B and C centers. Every week many films release; we can’t stop that. But when a film has strong content, we should aggressively promote it and take it to the audience.
The Rs.99 ticket strategy and iBomma shutting down helped us significantly. A major portion of iBomma viewership used to come from B and C centers — with the site gone, those audiences are returning to theatres. Without the Rs.99 pricing, many single screens would have struggled to survive.”
