Mahesh Babu Loved Srinivasa Mangapuram; His Appreciation Meant the World to Me: Debut Hero Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni
Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni, grandson of legendary Superstar Krishna and nephew of Superstar Mahesh Babu, is all set to make his acting debut with director Ajay Bhupathi’s much-awaited romantic action drama Srinivasa Mangapuram. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani, while veteran actor Dr. Mohan Babu plays a powerful role. Produced by P. Kiran and presented by C. Ashwini Dutt under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies banner, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 30.
During a media interaction ahead of the release, Jai Krishna spoke about his journey, the film, Mahesh Babu’s reaction, and his future aspirations.
“Mahesh Babu Loved the Film”
One of the biggest highlights of the interaction was Jai Krishna revealing that Mahesh Babu has already watched Srinivasa Mangapuram and was highly impressed.
“Mahesh Babai watched the film and was extremely happy. He personally messaged me saying he loved the action sequences and songs. He also told me that I looked completely different on screen and that I had immersed myself fully into the character. His appreciation means a lot to me,” Jai Krishna shared.
Acting Was Always the Dream
Jai Krishna revealed that his passion for acting began at a young age. He decided to become an actor at 16 and underwent professional training in Mumbai, Puducherry, and New York for nearly four years before returning to India to listen to scripts.
He also credited director Ajay Bhupathi for preparing him thoroughly before the shoot.
“We had a three-month workshop with look tests, screen tests, and dialogue rehearsals. That preparation helped me immensely,” he said.
Why Srinivasa Mangapuram?
According to Jai Krishna, producer Gemini Kiran introduced him to Ajay Bhupathi. Although he had heard several scripts before, Ajay’s narration immediately stood out.
“I wanted my debut to be backed by a strong emotional story with a memorable character. Srinivasa Mangapuram had everything I was looking for,” he explained.
A Dream Debut with Vyjayanthi Movies
Jai Krishna called it a privilege to begin his career under the legendary Vyjayanthi Movies banner.
“I have a wonderful bond with Ashwini Dutt garu. Launching under such a prestigious banner is truly special. Even Mahesh Babai’s first film was with Vyjayanthi Movies, and I hope this film receives similar love from audiences,” he said.
Living Up to the Ghattamaneni Legacy
Speaking about the expectations that come with belonging to the Ghattamaneni family, Jai Krishna admitted there is pressure—but sees it positively.
“Our fans supported me even before I made my debut. I want to earn that love through good stories and memorable performances. Positive pressure pushes me to make better choices.”
A Fresh Love Story with Strong Emotions
Describing the film, Jai Krishna said Srinivasa Mangapuram is far from a routine romantic entertainer.
“It is a realistic and rustic film filled with strong emotions. This isn’t a template love story. The twists and emotional journey will surprise audiences.”
He added that the character he plays, Srinu, is fun-loving, mischievous, and knows exactly what he wants. His love story with Manga forms the emotional core of the film.

Jai Krishna described Rasha Thadani as a major asset to the film.

Having trained in martial arts before entering films, Jai Krishna said action has always been his favourite genre.
“I’ve always loved action films, and I thoroughly enjoyed performing the action sequences in this movie.”
