-
“The character Deepak opened up a new world. Shekhar Kammula created a miracle with ‘Kubera’” – King Nagarjuna
-
“Thanks to the audience who made ‘Kubera’ a unanimous blockbuster” – Hero Dhanush
Starring Superstar Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, Shekhar Kammula’s latest film “Kubera” has emerged as a unanimous blockbuster. Produced by Sunil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under SVCLLP in association with Amigos Creations Pvt. Ltd., the film was mounted on a high budget with high production values. Released grandly on June 20 across the world in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, the film opened to packed houses and is enjoying a sensational run.
To celebrate the massive success, the makers held a grand “Blockbuster Kubera Success Meet”, with Megastar Chiranjeevi gracing the event as Chief Guest.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Speech:
“Greetings to all. This feels like my own success meet. I see joy on everyone’s faces, and I feel like this is my celebration too. I didn’t come here as a guest; I came as one among you, as a well-wisher. Before the film’s release, Nagarjuna once told me about this film. When I asked him about his role, he said he’s doing a different kind of character and that Dhanush is playing the lead. I asked, ‘Why did you agree to it?’ He replied, ‘I wanted to do something different and open new gates.’ And he was absolutely right. After watching the film, I believe he’ll rule the industry for another 40 years. Shekhar writing the character and Nagarjuna portraying it—that itself is the first success.
Dhanush as ‘Dev’ is irreplaceable. I couldn’t even recognize him during the film—he had immersed himself completely into the role. It didn’t feel like watching a movie; it felt like an experience. Shekhar Kammula is crafting each film like a gem and securing a place in the audience’s hearts. I remember meeting him during ‘State Rowdy’ shoot as a fan, and he decided that day to make it big in the industry. Now, 25 years later, he is delivering such masterpieces. I wholeheartedly congratulate him.
Rashmika gave a fantastic performance. I was there during her first film too. From being a national crush, she has now become an international crush. Her transformation in this film is remarkable. Her character reminded me of Soundarya from the film ‘Anthahpuram.’
As for Dhanush—only he could have played Dev. With that kind of star image, playing such a grounded role so naturally—he deserves the National Award. If he doesn’t get it, the very meaning of the National Award comes into question.
Producer Sunil Narang’s father Narayan Das was an honest and transparent businessman. It’s heartening to see his legacy continue through Sunil and third-generation Janhvi. I’ll definitely do a film with Janhvi (laughs). I wish their banner many more such successful films like Kubera.
DOP Niketh did a fantastic job—the visuals are rich and grand. It’s good to see so many young people here. For the industry to thrive, we need this youthful energy.
Devi Sri Prasad is like a son to me. Even during my comeback, he gave some brilliant albums. His energy just keeps growing. The entire nation is talking about him. His work in this film is magical—especially the song about the mother, which reminded me of ‘Neeru Neeru’ from Khaidi No. 150.
This is a film that proved that even in times when it’s hard to pull crowds to theatres, content that touches the heart can still bring them in. Shekhar Kammula deserves full credit for that. My heartfelt wishes to the entire team. Love you all.”
King Nagarjuna’s Speech:
“Thank you to my brother, Padma Vibhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi garu. The entire industry loves him. Whether it’s Kamal Haasan visiting during ‘Vikram,’ or Aamir Khan coming from Bollywood—Chiru garu always supports good cinema, regardless of size or scale. That’s why everyone loves him.
‘Kubera’ is a Shekhar Kammula film through and through. Blending thriller with human emotion is no easy task. Every role—Dev, Deepak, Sameera—is the soul of this film. This film belongs to Shekhar Kammula. He taught me something new about acting here (laughs). Each day on set was refreshing. When Chiru garu told me, ‘You’ve become Deepak,’ I realized Shekhar’s greatness.
My thanks to everyone involved. Sunil garu is like a brother. Ram Mohan garu, Janhvi—all are sweet people. Niketh’s visuals, Devi’s music—everything elevated the film. This film opened up a new world. We won’t stop for the next 40 years! Love you all.”
Dhanush’s Speech:
“This is a wonderful day. Every artist waits for a day like this. A film receiving such unanimous praise is rare, and we are all lucky and grateful to the audiences. There’s a notion that only action and loud films work in theatres. But Shekhar sir proved otherwise. He gave hope that heartfelt films can still draw audiences. Emotion is the greatest grandeur.
‘Kubera’ is performing phenomenally in Tamil too. Seeing our producer’s happiness is proof of the film’s success. My heartfelt thanks to the media for spreading the word. Having both Chiranjeevi sir and Nagarjuna sir blessing our team is a moment of pride. This is a mega success.”
Director Shekhar Kammula’s Speech:
“Chiranjeevi garu is my lucky charm. I met him during my college days and told him I’d direct him one day. That journey has now completed 25 years. Meeting him recently kickstarted a positive energy around this film.
The love audiences have shown to ‘Kubera’ is unforgettable. Media’s appreciation has been overwhelming. Thank you to Nagarjuna garu for accepting the Deepak role—his performance moved me to tears. Dhanush delivered a God-like performance, especially in the ‘Poiyira Mama’ song. My mother even said, ‘I wish there were 10 more minutes of this movie.’
Rashmika’s transformation as Sameera is outstanding. Devi gave magical music in both Telugu and Tamil. Shooting and re-recording in two languages is no small task. Niketh gave stunning visuals. I thank every technician. Special thanks to Narayan Das garu—wherever he is, his blessings are with us. And thank you to Sunil, Ram Mohan, and Janhvi for their incredible support.”
