Ritika Nayak Says Her Modern Role in ‘Korean Kanakaraju’ Is Unlike Anything She’s Done Before
Actress Ritika Nayak is all set to entertain audiences with Mega Prince Varun Tej’s upcoming horror-comedy Korean Kanakaraju, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Backed by UV Creations and First Frame Entertainment, the film promises a unique blend of supernatural thrills, comedy, and Indo-Korean cultural elements. With its entertaining teaser, popular songs, and positive buzz already creating excitement, the film is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on August 7.
Speaking to the media ahead of the release, Ritika Nayak opened up about her character, working with Varun Tej, her experience shooting in Korea, and why she believes the film will be a complete entertainer.
“The Story and Korean Setting Immediately Excited Me”
Ritika revealed that the first thing that attracted her to the project was its Korean backdrop.
“I’m a huge fan of Korean culture, Korean films, and K-dramas. When director Merlapaka Gandhi narrated the story, I was instantly excited because the film takes us to Korea. My character also has certain similarities with my real personality, making it even more special. This isn’t just another commercial heroine role—it’s something fresh and different. I believe audiences will connect with it instantly.”
“I Wait Patiently for the Right Script”
Known for being selective with her projects, Ritika said she prefers quality over quantity.
“I’m willing to wait as long as it takes for a good script. I only accept roles where I feel I can give my hundred percent. My goal has always been to be part of films that audiences genuinely appreciate.”
“My Most Modern Character So Far”
Speaking about her role, Ritika shared that she plays a confident, independent young woman.
“In Korean Kanakaraju, I portray a self-independent, modern girl. Among all the characters I’ve played so far, this is undoubtedly the most stylish and contemporary role.”

The actress had nothing but praise for her co-star Varun Tej.
“Varun Tej is incredibly hardworking and dedicated to his craft. During one of the patchwork schedules, he continued shooting from 9 AM until 3 AM despite being injured. His professionalism and commitment left a strong impression on me. It was a wonderful experience working alongside him.”

While horror comedies have become popular in recent years, Ritika believes Korean Kanakaraju offers something completely new.
“The concept is fresh. The blend of Indian and Korean cultures gives the film a unique identity. Audiences will enjoy a different kind of horror-comedy experience that hasn’t been explored before.”
She added that comedy is one of the film’s biggest strengths.
“This is a complete comedy entertainer. Sathya’s performance is outstanding, and his comic timing is brilliant. He also helped me improve my own comic timing during the shoot. Along with VTV Ganesh, Bulli Raju, and several other talented comedians, the film promises nonstop laughter. Viewers will leave theatres with a smile on their faces.”
“Shooting Across Korea and Kazakhstan Was Memorable”
Recalling the filming experience, Ritika said the international schedules became unforgettable memories.
“We shot portions in Anantapur, Kazakhstan, and Korea. Every schedule was beautiful and enjoyable, making the entire journey a memorable one.”

Ritika also appreciated the production house for taking exceptional care of the cast.
“Working with UV Creations was a wonderful experience. I fell sick during the shoot, and the producers personally ensured I was well taken care of. Everyone on the set was supportive and made me feel comfortable.”
“Telugu Cinema Will Always Be My First Priority”
When asked about working in other languages, Ritika expressed her willingness while reaffirming her love for Telugu cinema.
“I’m open to working in every language if the right script comes along. However, Telugu will always remain my first priority because it’s my home industry. The love I received for films like Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam, Hi Nanna, and Mirai motivates me to keep choosing meaningful projects.”
