Kamal Haasan Hails ‘Sing Geetham’ at Grand Pre-Release Event
Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is all set to enthrall audiences with his most ambitious project, “Sing Geetham.” Produced by acclaimed filmmaker Nag Ashwin under the prestigious banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, the film stars Ayaan, Ahalya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi in pivotal roles, with music composed by Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad.
The film’s teaser and songs have already generated significant buzz, and “Sing Geetham” is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 11. Ahead of its release, the makers hosted a grand pre-release event in Chennai, graced by Universal Star Kamal Haasan as the chief guest.
Kamal Haasan: “This Film Feels Like My Own Production”
Addressing the gathering, Kamal Haasan spoke fondly about his decades-long association with Singeetam Srinivasa Rao.
“From Mayabazar to Sing Geetham, Singeetam garu has remained unchanged. Cinema has always been his life, and that is a very rare quality. I started working with him when I was just 20 years old. I worked with him as an assistant director and producer because I simply wanted to be around him and learn from him,” said Kamal Haasan.
He revealed that Singeetam had narrated two stories to him decades ago. “One became Pushpaka Vimanam, and now the second story is arriving as Sing Geetham. I first heard this story when I was 20, and now I am about to watch it at 70. That shows how timeless Singeetam garu’s ideas are.”
Praising the makers, Kamal added, “This film gives me the feeling that I am one of its producers. In fact, it is one of those films that makes me wish Raj Kamal Films International had produced it. If Nag Ashwin is producing it, it feels as though I have produced it myself. Vyjayanthi Movies has brought this film to life with immense passion, and passion is what makes cinema truly special.”
Singeetam Srinivasa Rao: “A 40-Year Dream Has Finally Come True”
An emotional Singeetam Srinivasa Rao described the film as the fulfillment of a four-decade-long dream.
“The idea of creating a film where dialogue itself becomes music gave birth to this story. I narrated it to many people over the years, but destiny chose Vyjayanthi Movies and Nag Ashwin to bring it to life. I consider myself fortunate,” he said.
The veteran filmmaker credited Nag Ashwin entirely for making the project possible.
“Though I directed the film, Nag Ashwin and the Vyjayanthi Movies team carried the responsibility of bringing it to the screen with immense love and respect. They treated me with extraordinary affection. The credit for this film belongs to Nag Ashwin.”
He also praised Devi Sri Prasad’s contribution, saying, “DSP captured the soul of this story beautifully. I believe no one else could have delivered music of this magnitude for this film.”
Devi Sri Prasad: “Singeetam Garu’s Appreciation Feels Like an Oscar”
Music director Devi Sri Prasad expressed his gratitude for being part of such a unique project.
“Listening to Kamal Haasan garu share his experiences today was truly inspiring. Working on ‘Sing Geetham’ has been a blessing. Singeetam garu is a visionary who has attempted cinematic experiments that no one else has dared to do.”
DSP revealed that one of the biggest challenges was ensuring every spoken word in the film sounded musical.
“It was an exciting challenge to transform every dialogue into a song-like experience. Everyone in the film has sung in their own voices, and the entire team worked tirelessly to create something truly special. Singeetam garu’s appreciation feels like receiving an Oscar award.”
Ashwini Dutt: “Proud to See This Dream Become Reality”
Veteran producer Ashwini Dutt recalled that a project with Singeetam Srinivasa Rao had stalled nearly 26 years ago.
“Ever since that project stopped, I carried the disappointment with me. When I learned that Nag Ashwin, Swapna, and Priyanka were bringing this dream project to life, I felt incredibly proud. My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.”
