“I’ve never done a mass commercial film like ‘Bhairava’ before.” – Hero Nara Rohit
The much-awaited action thriller Bhairava, starring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Manchu Manoj, and Nara Rohit, is surging ahead with excellent response to its teaser, songs, and promotional content, creating a strong positive buzz. Directed by Vijay Kanakamedala and produced by KK Radhamohan under the Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner, the film is being presented by Dr. Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios. Bhairava is all set for a grand release on May 30, aiming to be the biggest summer release. As part of the promotions, hero Nara Rohit shared key insights about the film in a press meet.
How did this story come to you?
Producer Bellamkonda Suresh called and told me about the story. I trust his judgment. He explained the character of Shashi Kumar. I watched the original film and liked it a lot. It’s a universal subject. The original was a rustic village drama in Tamil. We made necessary changes to suit the Telugu nativity. Even after watching Garudan, this film will still feel like watching an original film.
Your on-screen chemistry with the other two actors seems great. Did you do any special prep for that?
We’ve known each other for a long time and are close personally. There’s a lot of comfort between us. Director Vijay had great clarity. He knew exactly what kind of performance he wanted from each character. He also gave us a lot of freedom. Every role in this film is important and carries emotional depth.
Can we expect back-to-back films from you now?
I initially planned to take a short break, but it turned into a long one (laughs). From now on, you’ll see regular releases. Sundarakanda is almost complete and may release in July. I’ll be starting my next film in August.
How was it working with Manoj and Sai Sreenivas?
I’ve known Manoj since childhood. This film brought us even closer. I’ve known Sai since 2010 when he was practicing dance. I was supposed to do a film with Suresh Garu earlier, but it didn’t materialize. With this film, all of us became even closer.
Tell us about Jayasudha Garu’s role.
Jayasudha Garu plays the grandmother in the film. She’s a legend. Working with her after Sir’s arrival was a joyful experience.

What kind of experience did this film give you?
Though I’ve done action films before, I’ve never done a commercial mass film like this. It’s a new experience for me. I’m eagerly waiting to see the audience’s response.
There are many action sequences in the film, and they’re one of the major highlights. It’s been a while since I did such heavy action, and I really enjoyed it. The interval sequence with all three of us turned out superbly. It’ll be a great experience for the audience.
What changes were made for the Telugu version?
The storyline remains the same, but we rewrote every scene to suit the Telugu audience. You’ll feel it gives an even better experience than the original.
What are the heroines’ roles like?
Every character in the film is important. There’s no unimportant role. The original story is by Vetrimaaran, and every role plays a crucial part in the narrative.
About Sri Charan’s music?
Sri Charan is known for his excellent background scores. With this film, he’s proven he can deliver great songs too. The background score is one of the film’s main highlights. He elevated the film with his score.
About producer Radha Mohan Garu?
Producers like Radha Mohan Garu are very important to the industry. Making a film with three heroes is not easy. He never compromised anywhere. I hope he achieves big success and profits with this film.
About director Vijay?
Vijay has a very clear vision. He knows exactly what he wants. He even visualizes the editing pattern while shooting a scene. This film will establish him as a big commercial director.
Do you plan to produce more films?
I’m co-producing Sundarakanda with my cousins. If good stories come, I’ll definitely produce more films.
Any plans for a sequel to Appatlo Okadundevadu?
We did consider a sequel and even started working on it, but it didn’t materialize. Let’s see if it happens in the future.
Your favorite genre?
I like all genres except horror. Why pay money to get scared? (laughs)
Your favorite films in your career?
Solo, Rowdy Fellow, Baanam, Jo Achyutananda, Appatlo Okadundevadu.
Have you watched Bhairava?
I’m eagerly waiting to watch it along with the audience on May 30.
