Two years ago (2022) Bhamakalapam was released on Aha, starring actress Priyamani in the lead role. The film was well received. Now, Bhamakalapam 2 is the sequel to the film. The film was released today (February 16, 2024) on Aha. Let us check the review.
Plot
Anupama (Priyamani) gets caught in trouble in the Bhamakalapam that revolves around a precious egg. Anupama wants to move to a different house to forget the traumatic past. Bhamakalapam 2 begins with her husband Mohan (Rudra Pratap) deciding that Anupama’s family move into a new house. With the money that came from YouTube, Anupama set up a hotel called Ghumaghuma. Anupama gets Shilpa (Saranya Pradeep) back to work. Later on, she gets a chance to in a cooking contest hosted by Anthony Lobo (Anuj Gurwara) and Zubeidaa (Seerat Kapoor). The winner’s trophy of the contest in a gold-coloured rooster. Anthony and Zubaida decide to rob the trophy and trade in drugs while Anupama gets ready for this contest and meets trouble. Anupama and Shilpa are confronted by narcotics officer Sadanand and a mafia gang tries to grab the rooster. Why is the rooster trophy so valuable? Why do Anupama and Shilpa listen to Sadanand? Ensuing drama forms the story.
Performances
Priyamani once again impressed in the role of Anupama. She brought the character to life. As a housewife who is afraid of her husband, she shows her mettle in times of trouble. In comparison to the first part, the seriousness of the sequel is more and Priyamani has maintained it. Saranya played the role of Shilpa again. She acted at ease. The scenes in the combination of the two are the main strength of the film. Seerat Kapoor looked glamorous and did justice to her character. Along with Raghu Mukherjee, the rest of the actors have acted to their limits. Brahmaji, who appeared for a while, laughed.
Analysis
The story of ‘Bhamakalapam 2’ revolves around ‘Kodi Punju Trophy’. However, the sequel has a lot of characters and an action touch as well. Director Abhimanyu has also added glamour to the character of Zubeidaa (Seerat Kapoor). The story progresses as Anupama (Priyamani) starts a hotel and wants to avoid troubles that haunted her from the past. The story gains momentum with the entry of Sadanand, who is a corrupt officer in narcotics. The director interestingly shows the conflict around Sadanand threatening Anupama and Shilpa to exploit the Kodi Punju trophy and they agree to it. Abhimanyu has written the story well for Bhamakalapam 2. However, it seems it was not executed properly. Especially if the theft episode had been shown in a more subtle way, the film would have been more thrilling. It is also a bit of a disadvantage to have some scenes and climax that are predictable. However, the movie does not get boring anywhere. It is not too exciting either. Prasanth R Vihari’s music is in tune with the film. The songs are not very impressive. Deepak’s cinematography is impressive.
