Karthi is all set to return to the big screen with the much-awaited sequel ‘Sardar 2’, following the blockbuster success of ‘Sardar’ in both Tamil and Telugu. Directed by PS Mithran, the film is produced by S. Lakshman Kumar under the banner of Prince Pictures. Annapurna Studios is bringing the film to Telugu audiences.
The teaser and trailer have already generated strong expectations, promising a bigger scale, intense action and an engaging spy-thriller narrative. ‘Sardar 2’ is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 10.
Ahead of the release, the makers hosted a grand pre-release event attended by several prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry, with blockbuster director Boyapati Sreenu as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, hero Karthi said, “It is very happy to see all of you here. I sincerely thank Ravi garu, Boyapati garu, Kalyan garu, Anil garu, Prasad garu, Sesh and everyone who came to support us.
“‘Sardar’ has a huge fan base in Telugu. ‘Sardar 2’ is a very important film in my career. Getting an extraordinary spy character like this is truly fortunate. Spies generally do not receive recognition, but they perform their duties sincerely without expecting anything in return.
“Before watching ‘Sardar 2’, I request everyone to watch ‘Sardar’ once again. The film is available for free on YouTube. Watching it again will help you connect even more strongly with ‘Sardar 2’.
“While watching Hollywood films, I used to wonder why we could not make stylish action films on such a scale. With this film, I feel we have achieved that. Mithran garu has written an excellent script, and the music and action will be on another level.
“Making a big-scale film like this is not easy, so I would like to thank our producers. I am also grateful to Nagarjuna garu, Supriya garu and Annapurna Studios for bringing the film to Telugu audiences.
“Films of this scale need strong performers. Ashika and Malavika have done wonderful roles. There is no dance in this film; there is action. You will also see strong women characters. To make a film like this bigger, you need a powerful villain, and Suriya garu will be seen in a completely different avatar. He has done an amazing job.
“Sam CS is completing his 100th film with ‘Sardar 2’. After ‘Kaithi’, he has delivered fantastic music. ‘Sardar 2’ is a very special film for all of us, and we are extremely happy that Annapurna Studios is releasing it in Telugu. If Annapurna is with us, everything is taken care of.

Actor Adivi Sesh said, “‘Sardar’ is one of my favourite films. I am a huge fan of Karthi garu’s films, including ‘Awaara’, ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Sathyam Sundaram’. I also loved ‘Sardar’ and thoroughly enjoyed it in theatres. It is a mass masala film within the spy genre.
“I will definitely watch ‘Sardar 2’ on the first day, first show. I wish Malavika, Ashika and the entire team all the very best. I hope the film becomes a huge success. See you all in theatres on September 10.”
