Actress Bhagyashri Borse is overwhelmed by the tremendous response to her performance in Lenin, starring Akhil Akkineni in the lead. Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu and produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, the film has emerged as a box-office success while earning widespread appreciation from audiences and critics alike.
Speaking to the media after the film’s successful run, Bhagyashri shared her excitement about the film’s reception, the love she has been receiving for her character Bharati, and her future aspirations.
‘Lenin’ has become a successful film. How are you enjoying the response?
The response has been truly overwhelming. I’m receiving countless messages appreciating both the film and my performance. Seeing audiences connect with Bharati has given me immense happiness and satisfaction as an actress.
What made this film so emotionally special for you?
Every film is special, but Lenin gave me an emotionally rich character and a beautiful story. Our entire team believed in the project from day one. Seeing that belief turn into such a wonderful success makes this journey even more emotional and memorable.
Audiences say they’ve accepted you like a Telugu girl…
That is the biggest compliment I could ever receive. From the beginning of my career, Telugu audiences have showered me with unconditional love and affection. Being accepted as one among them is something I will always cherish.
You once said Hyderabad feels like home. Why is it so special?
Telugu cinema gave me my first major opportunity as an actress. My journey began here, and the industry welcomed me with open arms. Hyderabad and the Telugu film industry will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope this beautiful relationship continues for a lifetime.

Did you expect Bharati to receive such an incredible response?
When director Murali Kishor narrated the story, I immediately connected with Bharati. I knew it was a performance-oriented role that would challenge me as an actress. But the amount of love audiences are showing today has exceeded all my expectations. I truly feel fortunate to have played this character.
What has been the best appreciation you’ve received so far?
It’s difficult to pick just one because every compliment means a lot to me. Many reviews specifically praised my performance, which is incredibly encouraging. Above all, hearing Nagarjuna sir publicly appreciate my acting is a moment I will treasure forever. Such recognition also reminds me to continue choosing meaningful roles.
How did your parents react after watching the film?
My mother called me after watching the film and said she loved both the movie and my performance. However, she became very emotional after seeing Bharati’s journey and ending. As a mother, she couldn’t stop thinking about the character. My parents are extremely happy and proud of my performance.
How was your experience working with Akhil Akkineni?
Lenin is essentially the love story of Lenin and Bharati, so we worked very hard to make our chemistry look natural on screen. Akhil is an outstanding performer and an exceptional dancer. He has delivered a wonderful performance in the film, and I sincerely wish him many more successes.

Did Nagarjuna garu offer you any advice?
Nagarjuna sir believed in Lenin right from the beginning. His confidence and constant encouragement gave the entire team tremendous motivation. His support meant a lot to all of us.
What kind of roles do you want to explore in the future?
I would love to play powerful larger-than-life characters, especially queens and princesses in epic films. S. S. Rajamouli sir is a master at creating such worlds, and working with him is one of my biggest dreams.
Are you interested in women-centric films?
Absolutely. After watching Maa Inti Bangaaram, I was deeply inspired by Samantha’s performance. She has shown that women-led films can be both meaningful and commercially successful. If I get the right script, I would definitely love to headline a female-centric film.
What are your upcoming projects?
I am currently shooting for Siyon with Sivakarthikeyan, which is progressing well. I also have a few exciting projects in the pipeline, and their details will be announced soon. At the same time, I’m listening to several Telugu scripts, and I look forward to taking up roles that truly connect with me.
