Doordarshini Will Take Audiences Back To Their Hometowns – Suvikshit

“Doordarshini Will Take Audiences Back To Their Hometowns” – Suvikshit

A heartwarming love entertainer inspired by real-life events, Doordarshini stars Suvikshit and Geethika Ratan in the lead roles. Carrying the tagline “Kalipindi Iddarini,” the film is directed by Karthikeya Kommi and produced by Jaya Shankar Reddy M and Patimeedi Santosh under the Varaha Movie Makers banner. With all formalities completed, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on May 15. Ahead of the release, hero Suvikshit interacted with the media and shared interesting insights about the film and his journey. Here are the highlights.

Tell us about your background?

I hail from Rayachoti in Kadapa district and have been managing a business professionally. However, cinema has always been my biggest passion since childhood. I grew up deeply inspired by films and storytelling. Though I never initially planned to become an actor, life unexpectedly brought me the opportunity to make my debut as a hero through Doordarshini.

How did you land the lead role in this film?

Writer Narayana garu developed this story based on the life of a beggar he met in Arunachalam. Initially, we considered another actor for the lead role. But since the story demanded a fresh and relatable face, and because of my strong interest in cinema, the team felt I would suit the character perfectly. That’s how I eventually became part of the project as the protagonist.

The teaser, songs, and trailer released so far have received an overwhelmingly positive response, which has boosted our confidence tremendously.

How did you prepare for your character?

The emotions shown in the film are very close to my own experiences. Since the story is set in the 1990s, the character needed to reflect the innocence, emotions, and lifestyle of people from that era. I personally lived through those moments, so I could naturally connect with the role.

To be honest, I never felt like I was “acting” in the film. I simply lived the character and behaved the way people genuinely did during those times.

Are you planning a wide release for the film?

Initially, we planned for a limited release. But after receiving an encouraging response to the promotional content, we decided to expand the release. Now, Doordarshini is set to release in more than 250 theatres, which is very exciting for us.

Many people are discussing the emotional climax where the hero and heroine die. Why reveal such an important point beforehand?

The uniqueness of the story lies in how it still delivers a deeply satisfying and emotional ending even after the tragic fate of the lead pair. The film explores how the old man reaches Arunachalam and the journey that shaped his life. Interestingly, the elderly character appears as the hero’s father in the story.

More than anything, audiences will feel emotionally connected to the world of the film and experience the nostalgia of revisiting their villages from the 1990s.

Why did you choose to act in the film yourself instead of casting established actors?

Almost everyone associated with this project is relatively new. We wanted the performances to feel completely natural and believable. If popular actors had played these roles, audiences might have focused more on their star image rather than the characters themselves. By casting fresh faces, we were able to preserve the authenticity and emotional honesty of the story.

How was your experience working on this film?

Like every film journey, we too faced several challenges during production. But the dedication and support from every artist and technician helped us overcome them. Reaching the release stage itself feels like a huge achievement for all of us.

We strongly believe audiences always encourage sincere and good cinema. We took enough time to ensure quality output without compromising at any stage.

Tell us about the film’s locations and visual setting?

We shot the film extensively in natural locations around Yanam and Kakinada. Great care was taken to recreate the atmosphere and aesthetics of the 1990s through detailed production design and realistic sets.

Quality was our top priority throughout the making process.

Why did you choose a 1990s backdrop for the story?

As modern city life becomes busier, many people are slowly drifting away from their roots and native villages. Through Doordarshini, we wanted to reconnect audiences with those forgotten memories and emotions.

Anyone who watches this film will feel like they have gone back to their hometown and relived a beautiful phase of life.

It is being said that audiences will be given handkerchiefs along with movie tickets. Is the film that emotional?

Absolutely. The emotional depth of the film is one of its strongest aspects. There are several scenes that will deeply move audiences, and I genuinely believe many people will leave the theatres with tears in their eyes.

Will you continue acting as a hero in future films?

Definitely. I would love to continue acting, especially in films that have strong stories and emotional depth.
