“Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani Will Entertain Audiences of All Sections”: Actress Laya
After winning hearts with classic entertainers like Missamma, Adirindayya Chandram, and Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila, popular actors Shivaji and Laya are reuniting after nearly two decades for the much-awaited entertainer Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani. Following the successful releases of Little Hearts and Raju Weds Rambayi, the film is being released by prominent producers Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati in association with ETV Win.
The recently released trailer has generated strong buzz and raised expectations significantly. Presented as a crime-comedy family thriller, Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani is produced by Shivaji himself under the Sri Shivaji Productions banner, presented by Rikki in association with ETV Win, and directed by Sudheer Sriram. The film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on March 6.

Reuniting with Shivaji After 20 Years
“It’s been almost 20 years since Shivaji garu and I acted together. Initially, I thought it was a family drama. But once I learned it was a full-length comedy entertainer, I was thrilled because comedy is my favourite genre. The film connects with audiences of all age groups. Along with humour, it also has thrilling twists. It’s a dark comedy—essentially a comedy crime thriller. I felt a very unique vibe the moment I heard the story.”
About Her Character
“I play a character named Uttara. I’ve never seen myself in such a role before, and even I felt excited listening to it. It’s a strong role—one that even dominates a powerful character like Mangapathi’s. Shivaji garu encouraged me a lot. The scenes between us are going to be highly hilarious.”
OTT vs Theatrical Release
“Initially, the plan was a theatrical release. Later, there was talk about an OTT release, which honestly disappointed me a bit because I love seeing myself on the big screen. Many respected people who watched the film felt it truly deserved a theatrical release, and that’s how it came back to theatres. My daughter was especially upset when she thought it would release on OTT—she always wants to watch my films on the silver screen. Now we’re all very happy.”

“I’m not fixated on doing only lead roles. If I like the story and character, even a small role excites me. Female roles often have limited scope, so I carefully choose the best options. I’ve done many soft roles, and now I’m keen on strong characters. Though I may look soft, I’m quite strong-willed. Audiences will see a different side of me in Vadhalu.”
Upcoming Projects
“In Vadhalu, I play the wife of Jagapathi Babu. I’m also working on a film with Srikanth, directed by Nageswara Reddy. It’s a socio-fantasy film inspired by the style of Yamaleela. Vadhalu is a psychological thriller, and I’m excited to explore different genres.”
