‘Sri Chidambaram Garu’ Promises a Pure Feel-Good Experience: Producer Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy
Produced under the banner of Sri Chakras Entertainment, Sri Chidambaram Garu is presented by Smt. Chinta Varalakshmi, with Chinta Vineesh Reddy and Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy serving as producers, and Chinta Rajashekar Reddy as co-producer. Featuring Vamsi Thummala and Sandhya Vashishta in the lead roles, the film marks the directorial debut of Vinay Ratnam. The movie is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on February 6.
Speaking on the occasion, producer Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy shared insights into the film’s journey, vision, and philosophy behind the project.
“With the intention of encouraging fresh talent, we decided to produce Sri Chidambaram Garu. This team has worked tirelessly for nearly four years. The film initially began as a crowd-funded project. After witnessing the dedication and passion of the team, my daughter introduced this proposal to me. Their unwavering belief in the story impressed us, and we were confident they would deliver a meaningful film.”
Highlighting the genre and experience the film offers, he added:
“Sri Chidambaram Garu is a pure feel-good film. There are no loud fights or excessive action sequences. Shot in calm and picturesque locations, the movie provides a soothing and pleasant cinematic experience. Audiences come to theatres to relax, and this film delivers exactly that.”
Speaking about the production process and locations, he said:
“We set up an office in Rajahmundry and completed the shoot in two schedules—35 days in the Maredumilli region and 10 days in Rajahmundry. Though locals warned us about heavy rains after May, our shooting locations remained unaffected, even when surrounding areas experienced rainfall. The film beautifully captures the natural beauty of our own state, proving that we don’t always need to travel elsewhere for scenic visuals.”
He further noted the authenticity of the film:
“The local people extended tremendous support. The houses shown in the trailer are real homes where people actually live. Everything was shot very naturally, adding to the film’s realism.”
Talking about the performances and music, the producer stated:
“The hero and heroine characters are strongly written and deeply connected to the story. The songs have already received an excellent response. For our generation, music was a major reason to watch films in theatres, and this movie offers a very pleasant and soulful audio album.”
Explaining the title choice and release strategy, he said:
“The original title was Chidambaram, but we added ‘Sri’ to give it more dignity and grace. The film is being distributed by Vamsi Nandipati. We have not sold the OTT rights yet, as platforms are often hesitant with films made by newcomers. We strongly believe in our content and plan to approach OTT platforms after the theatrical release.”
He also revealed:
“Initially, we did not plan an overseas release. However, after receiving encouraging calls from abroad based on the film’s content, Sri Chidambaram Garu will now release in the US, UK, and other countries as well.”
Sharing his confidence in the film’s reception, he added:
“The movie has received very positive feedback during recent celebrity screenings, which makes us extremely happy. Under our banner, we are currently working on a major project titled Rao Bahadur and another film with a new director.”
Concluding with a strong message to audiences and the industry, he said:
“This week, several films are releasing along with ours, and we wish all of them success. Sri Chidambaram Garu offers two hours of quality entertainment, with ticket prices kept at just ₹99. It is a film made with strong production values and a beautiful story—a hidden gem.”
Sharing his philosophy as a producer, he concluded:
“If producers select good content and work like responsible managers, no one will face losses. Many films today are stuck waiting for OTT deals. If we had followed that path, this film would have been delayed indefinitely. Recovering investments helps us make more meaningful cinema. We aspire to create films like those of K. Viswanath garu. I ensure that no one associated with my films suffers losses—if there is any, I will bear it myself. We will be announcing the sequel to this film very soon.”
