International Day of Yoga to be organised in Secunderabad-Hyderabad on 27th May

Secunderabad-Hyderabad, May 21. To mark the 25-day countdown to International Day of Yoga 2023, the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, is hosting a grand Yoga Mahotsav at Parade Ground, Secunderabad. The event will take place on May 27th, starting at 6 AM.

MDNIY, The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has initiated a 100-day countdown programme to promote yoga in 100 different locations across India. The programme commenced on March 13, 2023, and is already underway. As part of this initiative, events have been organized in New Delhi, Dibrugarh (Assam), and Jaipur (Rajasthan) at the 100-day, 75-day, and 50-day marks leading up to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023.

It is worthwhile to mention that at the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister, a significant milestone was achieved in 2014 when the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. Since then, every year, the country commemorates this day by organizing Mass Yoga Demonstrations based on the Common Yoga Protocol. The International Day of Yoga has become an important event celebrated both nationally and globally, generating increasing enthusiasm each year. It serves as a benchmark occasion in promoting the practice of yoga worldwide.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Ayush, Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sh. Sarbananda Sonowal ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and DoNER Shri. G Kishan Reddy ji,  Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women and Child Development, invites all the public representatives from all parties, Central and State Govt. organisations located in and around Hyderabad and Secunderabad to join this noble ‘Yoga Utsav’ along with their family to show India’s unity globally for the cause of ‘Public Health’ and our commitment to universal Health Coverage and  Sustainable Development Goal- (SDG-03-Good Health and well-being). 

Hon’ble Governor of Telangana Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister and Health and Finance Minister of State of Telangana have been invited to grace the occasion. More than 20, 000 Yoga enthusiasts along with celebrities, sportspersons and senior officials from the State and Union are likely to participate in the event.
