Vijay Deverakonda–Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali Grand Release on September 11, 2026
The makers of “Ranabaali” (VD 14) have unveiled a riveting and intense glimpse, setting the stage for one of the most ambitious pan-India projects in recent times. Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced under the prestigious banner of Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting the film.
On the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, the team officially announced the title and release date. Ranabaali is slated for a grand worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
The glimpse opens with haunting visuals depicting the brutal British rule in India, even before introducing the fabled “Cursed Land” and its legendary hero. Through Rahul Sankrityan’s powerful narration, the film sheds light on the unimaginable suffering inflicted on Indians—particularly in regions that were deliberately converted into drought-stricken zones under colonial officials such as Sir Richard Temple.
Striking an emotional chord, the glimpse speaks of a genocide worse than Hitler’s Holocaust and exposes the systematic economic exploitation of India, delivering revelations that are both disturbing and impactful. Vijay Deverakonda appears as Ranabaali, commanding the screen with a ferocious intensity and a striking new look that marks a stunning transformation in his career.
Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, while acclaimed international actor Arnold Vosloo—best known for The Mummy franchise—essays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. One of the most talked-about moments from the glimpse features Vijay Deverakonda riding a horse while dragging a British officer along railway tracks, a visual that has significantly amplified the film’s buzz.
Produced on a lavish scale by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, Ranabaali is set against a British-era backdrop and is being mounted as a period action drama of epic proportions. Set in the 19th century, the film is inspired by real historical events that occurred between 1854 and 1878, making it a massive pan-India cinematic experience.
Drawing from suppressed records, oral histories, and multiple real accounts, Ranabaali revisits incidents from the 1850s to the late 1800s that were either misrepresented or erased from mainstream history by the British. The film is not a biopic nor a textbook retelling, but rather a cinematic reconstruction of a forgotten era, portraying characters who were historically branded as rebels or savages.
This film marks Vijay Deverakonda’s third collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers after Dear Comrade and Kushi. It also reunites Vijay with director Rahul Sankrityan following their super hit Taxiwaala. Additionally, after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, Ranabaali becomes the third on-screen collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, making it one of the most eagerly awaited films in Indian cinema.
