Working with Ravi Basrur Was an Unforgettable Experience: Producer James W. Kommu
Presented by Hombale Films and directed by the acclaimed music director Ravi Basrur, the Kannada film Veera Chandrahasa is all set for a grand worldwide release on September 19. The Telugu version is being released by producers M. V. Radhakrishna and James W. Kommu under the banners Kanchi Kamakshi Kolkata Kaali Creations and SJK Banners.
Radhakrishna, known for his good taste in selecting films, has earlier brought Kannada films like Veda (starring Shivraj Kumar) and Rakshasa (starring Prajwal Devaraj) to Telugu audiences. Continuing the same streak, he has now acquired the Telugu rights of Veera Chandrahasa. To mark the occasion, a grand pre-release event was held at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad on Monday.
Ravi Basrur Speaks:
“This is a unique story rooted in our cultural heritage, particularly inspired by Yakshagana traditions. Veera Chandrahasa is my 12-year dream project. It reflects the journey of every individual who rises from zero to hero through dedication and struggle.
A single film creates employment for nearly 4,000 people, and that responsibility inspires me to make at least one film every year as a director and producer. Veera Chandrahasa is my sixth directorial venture, and through it, I aim to encourage new talent.
No matter how far we grow, we must never forget our roots. This film creates a new world that preserves our culture.
I failed in the 8th grade, and until Ugramm happened, my life was full of disasters. Director Prashanth Neel gave me that one chance and changed my life. To me, he is no less than God, and I will remain forever indebted to him.”
Producer M. V. Radhakrishna:
“Recently released in Kannada, Veera Chandrahasa has already completed a 100-day successful run, which is a rare feat these days. It’s a proud moment for us to bring this cultural spectacle to Telugu audiences.
The film draws heavily from Indian heritage and Yakshagana art form, making it truly unique. Ravi Basrur, who mesmerized audiences with his music in KGF and Salaar, has not only composed the music but also directed this film.
We are confident that the Telugu audience will wholeheartedly embrace it. The success of Veera Chandrahasa is guaranteed.”
Producer James W. Kommu:
“It’s an honor to share the stage with a legendary music director like Ravi Basrur. Music is my passion, and working with an artist of his caliber has been a memorable experience.
Ravi Basrur is more than a musician—he is an institution in himself. His love for society and his roots has brought global recognition to his hometown, Basrur village. Traveling alongside him in this journey has been a privilege.
We firmly believe that when Veera Chandrahasa releases on September 19, it will captivate audiences everywhere.”
