Timeless Classic Mayabazar Returns to Theatres on May 28 to Mark NTR’s 102nd Birth Anniversary

Mayabazar, the timeless Telugu cinematic masterpiece, is making a grand return to the silver screen! As the film completes 68 glorious years since its original release in 1957, film lovers and fans of legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) will get to relive this epic on May 28, 2025 — a date that also marks the 102nd birth anniversary of NTR.

Directed by the visionary K. V. Reddy and produced by Nagireddy and Chakrapani under the Vijaya Productions banner, Mayabazar remains a crown jewel in Indian cinema. The film features an iconic star cast including NTR as Lord Krishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao as Abhimanyu, S.V. Ranga Rao as Ghatotkacha, Savitri as Sasirekha, and several other legends like Relangi, Gummadi, Mukkamala, Allu Ramalingaiah, Surya Kantham, and Ramana Reddy.

Re-Release by Balusu Rama Rao

Film enthusiast and ardent NTR fan Balusu Rama Rao is spearheading the re-release of Mayabazar in color on a grand scale. The film will be showcased in theaters across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including special screenings at IMAX theaters for a larger-than-life experience.

Legendary Contributions That Made Mayabazar a Cinematic Gem

The dialogues by Pingali Nagendra Rao, the visuals by cinematographer Marcus Bartley, and the evergreen music by Ghantasala have all contributed to the film’s enduring legacy. Every scene is rich in emotion, mythological grandeur, and technical brilliance—especially remarkable considering the film was made in an era with limited visual effects.
