Hyderabad is poised to become a global hub for cinema under the visionary leadership of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In a strategic meeting held on Thursday, prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry, led by Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) Chairman Dil Raju, engaged with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Garu, and Cinematography Minister KomatiReddy Venkat Reddy Garu to discuss innovative strategies for the growth and international expansion of the film industry.
CM’s Vision: A Global Cinema Destination
Dil Raju shared that the Chief Minister envisions Hyderabad as a global hub for cinema, comparable to its established reputation in the IT and pharmaceutical sectors. This ambitious goal includes making the city a destination for international filmmakers, including Hollywood productions.
“CM Garu provided us with valuable inputs to elevate the film industry. His vision is not just about growth but positioning Hyderabad as a global hub,” Dil Raju said. “We will incorporate his inputs and present a comprehensive proposal in the next meeting.”
Addressing Rumors: A Collaborative and Supportive Approach
Dispelling circulating rumors about the meeting, Dil Raju stated, “There is no negativity from the government towards the film industry. False narratives are being spread, but the government has been very supportive.” He emphasized the productive nature of the discussions and clarified that the focus was on industry-wide growth rather than minor operational issues like ticket pricing or benefit shows.
Expanding Telugu Cinema Globally
The meeting underscored the need to take Telugu cinema to the next level, exploring opportunities for national and international prominence. “The agenda revolved around how Telugu cinema can achieve growth on a larger scale,” Dil Raju noted.
Promoting Social Awareness and Annual Film Awards
The government has also encouraged film industry stakeholders to engage in promoting social awareness through their platforms. As part of the collaborative efforts, the government proposed holding the “Gaddar Film Awards” annually, with the TFDC acting as a key facilitator.
Response to Sandhya Theatre Incident
Addressing the Sandhya Theatre stampede, Dil Raju mentioned that no footage related to the incident was shared by the police. “The DGP Garu has asked us to ensure accountability for our bouncers’ behavior,” he said, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to safety and transparency.
A Roadmap for Collaboration
To ensure seamless collaboration, a committee comprising representatives from the film industry and government officials will be established. Dil Raju reiterated his commitment as the TFDC Chairman to act as a bridge between the government and the industry, fostering mutual growth and innovation.
