The Telugu Film Industry came together to celebrate the success at the 95th Academy Awards (Oscar) and felicitated the winners lyricist K. Subhash Chandrabose and music composer MM Keeravani for the song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The Telugu Film Producers Council organised the celebrations in Hyderabad on April 9.
Chandrabose who is on cloud nine ever since he received the Oscar shared how he felt receiving the Oscar and revealed why he met a certain set of people immediately after coming back to his hometown.
Speaking at the programme, Chandrabose said that he was left speechless for the 15 seconds it took to walk the aisle to Oscar’s dais from his seat after the big announcement was dropped.
“And then Keeravani garu addressed the gathering and handed over the award to me. At that moment, I felt all the seconds in 28 years of my career are equal to the one second I held the Oscar. I felt as if I held the Indian national flag. I also got a second to speak and I chose to utter the Telugu word Namaste,” Chandrabose said.
Chandrabose also said that he met all the people who made him what he is today immediately after receiving the award.
“Right after coming back home I met Kurra Srinath who suggested I become a lyricist while I was trying to become a singer. Later I met my first director Muppalaneni Shiva, producer Daggubati Suresh Babu, music composer M.M. Keeravani, my first music composer M.M. Srilekha, K. Raghavendra Rao, Chiranjeevi, Devi Sri Prasad and Anup Rubens,” Chandrabose said.
He said the help from Kurra Srinath and M.M. Keeravani made him what he is today.
Keeravani said that he’s happy to see the film industry come together.
About Oscar, he said that he had felt no excitement while in the run for the Oscars. “I felt the real value of Oscar when Telugu media baron and film producer Ramoji Rao garu asked me to bring home Oscar.”
Director SS Rajamouli, writer-director Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, producers Dil Raju, Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind, Shyam Prasad Reddy along with senior actors Rajasekhar and Jeevitha, director-actor Kasiviswanath, cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar, actors Rana and Sushant are among the film personalities who felicitated the Oscar winners.
