“Story Is the Real Hero in Krishna Leela, a Powerful Supernatural Love Tale Actor & Director Devan”

Young actor Devan is making his mark both in front of and behind the camera with his upcoming supernatural love story “Krishna Leela.” The film carries the intriguing tagline “Thirigochchina Kaalam” (The Time That Returned). Actress Dhanya Balakrishnan plays the female lead. The film is produced by Jyotsna G under the Mahasen Visuals banner, presented by Baby Vaishnavi, with story and dialogues by Anil Kiran Kumar G.

The teaser and trailer have already received an exceptional response, and “Krishna Leela” is set for a grand release on November 7th. On this occasion, hero and director Devan shared insights about the film in an engaging conversation with the media.

How did Krishna Leela begin?

“I was working as a software professional while simultaneously pursuing acting. I had acted in two films in notable roles. However, when I started getting similar characters repeatedly, I wanted to do something new. Around that time, producer Jyotsna and writer Anil narrated this story to me.

After listening to it, I took about a week to think. I made a few creative changes to make it more relatable to today’s generation and restructured the screenplay. They loved the fresh approach.

When they asked who would direct the film, I confidently said I would. Even though I didn’t have prior directing experience, I’ve always had a deep understanding of storytelling and screenplay from childhood. With that confidence, I approached ace cinematographer Chota K. Naidu and narrated the story. He was very excited and promised to support me completely. That’s how Krishna Leela began.”

What can audiences expect from Krishna Leela?

Krishna Leela – The Time That Returned. The name itself has layers. ‘Leela’ means play or divine act. The film explores how Lord Krishna plays out a love story — how he writes and rewrites fate.

A human being can’t reverse time. But what if divinity brings time back? The film explores that fascinating idea in a unique and emotional way.

Every action of ours has a destiny. Every person we meet has some connection to us — perhaps even from a past life. The Bhagavad Gita tells us to share love with everyone. We’ve presented that element in a very new and touching manner.”

Krishna philosophy is vast. How did you make it relatable for the audience?

“Yes, Krishna’s philosophy is like an ocean. We’ve connected some of the profound verses from the Bhagavad Gita beautifully to our story. I often listen to the spiritual discourses of Gangadhara Shastri Garu. When I narrated the concept to him, he cleared many of my doubts and guided me spiritually for the film.

Overall, this is a powerful content-driven film. We brought to life exactly what we envisioned on paper. It’s an honest story — one where the story itself is the hero.”

Tell us about your heroine, Dhanya Balakrishnan.

“When I narrated the story to Dhanya, she connected with it instantly. She understood the emotional depth of her role perfectly and delivered an amazing performance.

We also have talented actors like Prithvi Garu and Tulasi Garu, whose experience and presence greatly elevated the film. Everyone on the team supported me wholeheartedly, and we completed the movie just as we envisioned.”

What message would you like to give the audience?

“Love is the purest and most powerful emotion — whether it’s between husband and wife, parent and child, friends, or even between humans and animals.

After watching Krishna Leela, I’m sure viewers will feel a deeper connection with the people in their lives — friends, loved ones, and everyone they share bonds with.”

Technical Crew and Support

Chota K. Naidu Garu gave me immense confidence to take this leap. With his encouragement, we went ahead with the project. Satheesh Muthyala worked as our DOP and did phenomenal work. Everything I visualized on paper came alive on screen exactly as I imagined.

Bheems Ceciroleo provided wonderful music — both the songs and background score are extraordinary. The VFX team also did an outstanding job in enhancing the film’s supernatural elements.”

Finally, would you continue as an actor or director?

“Time will decide that. For now, my complete focus is on taking Krishna Leela to the audience. Their love and feedback will guide what comes next.”
