Single follows the journey of Vijay (Sree Vishnu), a man determined to end his singlehood. His story unfolds through a romantic track with Purva (Ketika Sharma), eventually revealing why he remains single by the end.
Performances
Sree Vishnu returns to familiar territory, delivering effortless comedy with his trademark relaxed charm and unique screen presence. His natural performance carries several scenes, adding weight even when the writing wavers. Ketika Sharma plays the female lead, but her character is underwritten and her performance underwhelms, making little lasting impact.
Direction & Screenplay
Director Caarthick Raju builds the film on a simple, concept-based premise, relying heavily on quirky situations and light-hearted humor. The first half works reasonably well with engaging setups, showcasing two friends navigating their single lives. However, the second half falters — losing its grip on tone and narrative clarity. Emotional arcs feel forced, particularly the subplot involving Rajendra Prasad and the heroine’s sudden change of heart. The climax lacks the fun or emotional payoff expected from a film of this nature.
Supporting Cast
Vennela Kishore adds flavor with well-timed comedy, while Ivana leaves a pleasant impression in her brief role. Rajendra Prasad, unfortunately, is wasted in a poorly written part, and actors like VTV Ganesh and Sathya are barely utilized.
Technical Aspects
Vishal Chandrasekhar’s background score enhances the film’s feel-good moments, even if the songs themselves are forgettable. Velraj’s cinematography offers visual appeal, and while editing is decent in the first half, the latter portions feel disjointed. Production values are solid, especially for a small-scale entertainer.
Highlights
* Sree Vishnu’s effortless comedy
* Vennela Kishore’s entertaining moments
* Light-hearted vibe in the first half
Drawbacks:
*Weak character arc for the heroine
*Forced emotional beats
*Lackluster second half and climax
Verdict
Single starts off with promise, fueled by Sree Vishnu’s charm and some enjoyable humor. But the inconsistent writing and unsatisfying conclusion weigh it down. It’s a one-time watch for the lead actor’s fans and a few laughs, but don’t expect a fulfilling rom-com experience.
