What kind of film is Saraswati?
Saraswati is a complete thriller package packed with exciting elements and unexpected twists. Audiences will thoroughly enjoy it. We focused on making the two-hour narrative extremely gripping, and I believe we’ve achieved that effectively.
Can you talk about Priyamani’s character?
At this stage, I don’t want to reveal too much about the character. Varalaxmi designed the role with great vision, and Priyamani is perfectly cast for it. She delivered a wonderful performance.
Why the name ‘Dosa Diaries’ for your banner?
When choosing a banner name, we wanted something relatable and memorable. Food connects with everyone, and dosa is Varalaxmi’s absolute favorite. The idea of Dosa Diaries instantly clicked with all of us.
Did you always have an interest in production?
Yes, I’ve always been inclined towards production. I’ve organized several music shows, including events featuring A.R. Rahman. I also worked with Radar for a few years. I genuinely enjoy being behind the camera—acting isn’t my forte at all.
What inspired Saraswati?
It’s a crime thriller with a strong social message. There’s a line in the trailer: “Not every girl is like Saraswati—when the time comes, she can become Kali.” That thought forms the core of this story. The film presents a powerful woman character and a very strong narrative. Varalaxmi is personally and emotionally connected to this story.
How did ETV come on board?
We narrated the story to ETV’s Bapineedu garu, and he loved it immediately. He confirmed that they wanted to be associated with the project.
Tell us about the court scenes in the film.
The courtroom sequences are extremely important. There’s a nearly seven-minute single-shot scene, which is very interesting. Audiences will feel deeply connected to the story while watching it. This is a film suitable for all sections of viewers.
Why was the film made primarily in Telugu?
Varalaxmi now considers Hyderabad her home. She was very firm that her first directorial venture should be made in Telugu.
How is Thaman’s music?
After listening to the music, audiences will be pleasantly surprised. You’ll experience a very different side of Thaman S, and that will be clear when you watch the film.
