‘Run for Unity’ Held Grandly in Hyderabad – Megastar Chiranjeevi Graces as Chief Guest
Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and the architect of national integration, the Hyderabad City Police organized the ‘Run for Unity’ with great fervor on October 31, 2025, in celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
The event began early in the morning at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, and simultaneously across seven police zones of Hyderabad. The initiative symbolized a renewed commitment to national unity, integrity, and security, drawing inspiration from Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution to the unification of India.
More than 5,000 enthusiastic participants — including citizens, athletes, and police personnel — took part in the unity run.
Chief Guest: Megastar Chiranjeevi
Megastar Chiranjeevi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside B. Shivadhar Reddy, IPS (Director General of Police, Telangana). Distinguished guests included Sandeep Shandilya (Retd. IPS, Director – Eagle), M.M. Bhagwat, IPS (Addl. DGP, Law & Order, Telangana), V.C. Sajjanar (Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad), Tafseer Iqubal, IPS (Joint CP – Law & Order), D. Joel Davis, IPS (Joint CP – Traffic), K. Shilpavalli, IPS (DCP – Central Zone), K. Apoorva Rao, IPS (DCP – Special Branch), Dhara Kavitha (DCP – Cyber Crime), and Lavanya Nayak Jadhav (DCP – Women Safety) among others.
Chiranjeevi’s Inspiring Speech
Addressing the gathering, Chiranjeevi said:
“Good morning to everyone! I’m truly delighted to participate in such an energetic and meaningful event. I thank DGP Shivadhar Reddy garu, my dear friend CP Sajjanar garu, and all the government officials and organizers for making this happen.”
He added,
“Celebrating Ekta Diwas on the birth anniversary of our Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is a fitting tribute to the great visionary. Hats off to those who conceived this idea. Patel’s determination, vision, and courage continue to inspire us all. The unification of over 560 princely states into one nation is his greatest gift to India — the reason we proudly call ourselves One Nation. We must always remain grateful for his service.”
“This run symbolizes unity and harmony. Taking forward Patel’s message of Unity in Diversity through such events will inspire the youth and future generations alike. I sincerely appreciate the Hyderabad Police, especially DGP Shivadhar Reddy garu and CP Sajjanar garu, for organizing such a wonderful program. I hope similar initiatives continue frequently.”
Chiranjeevi also personally participated in the 2K Run, earning loud cheers from the crowd. He expressed gratitude for being part of the event and lauded the Hyderabad Police for conducting it so spectacularly.
DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy’s Message
Speaking on the occasion, DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, said:
“This is not just a run; it is a movement for national unity. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, with his indomitable will, brought together more than 560 princely states, strengthening the foundation of our nation. His life is a timeless example of leadership and patriotism.”
CP V.C. Sajjanar’s Remarks
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, urged the youth to draw inspiration from Patel’s life:
“The younger generation must emulate Sardar Patel’s values to build a better society. On the cybercrime front, I assure citizens not to worry. We are addressing critical issues like deepfakes and tracing the sources behind such crimes. Young people must be cautious — lending their accounts for small amounts like ₹5,000 or ₹10,000 to cybercriminals can lead to serious legal consequences.”
Unity, Discipline, and Inspiration
The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold national integrity and unity. The Hyderabad City Police, along with their personnel, ensured smooth conduct and high participation, turning the Run for Unity into a vibrant celebration of patriotism and civic spirit.
