Story
The lead pair is instantly likeable and convincing as a couple. Their chemistry shines especially in the early stretch, which unfolds with vibrant wedding festivities, warm family moments, and sweet romantic bonding. These portions establish a lively rhythm and set the tone for a feel-good entertainer.
Suma gets a full-fledged comedy role and makes the most of it. Her timing is sharp, and she brings an effortless charm to the screen. Vennela Kishore complements her perfectly, and their combined humour becomes one of the film’s biggest assets. The rest of the supporting cast performs adequately within their limited scope.
While the first half flows smoothly with a neat mix of romance and humour, the second half struggles to keep pace. The narrative slows down considerably, and the scenes lack the same energy and freshness seen early on.
The writing becomes shallow in several places. Many moments appear inserted merely to secure a predictable feel-good ending, weakening the emotional impact. The theft sequences, though mildly entertaining, collapse under logical scrutiny and feel overly cinematic.
Performance
Priyadarshi & Anandhi
The lead couple is the soul of Premante. Priyadarshi brings his trademark charm and natural ease to the role, making the character instantly relatable. Anandhi complements him beautifully with her subtle expressions and graceful screen presence. Together, they share warm and convincing chemistry that elevates several key moments in the film.
Suma
Suma gets a rare full-length comedic role and absolutely owns it. Her timing, expressive acting, and energetic presence contribute significantly to the film’s fun quotient. Even in repetitive situations, she keeps the scenes lively through sheer performance strength.
Vennela Kishore
Vennela Kishore once again proves why he’s one of Telugu cinema’s most reliable comedians. His combination scenes with Suma are among the film’s most entertaining stretches. His controlled humour and effortless reactions bring genuine laughs.
Hyper Aadhi & Ram Prasad
Although talented, both actors are underutilized. Their roles offer very limited scope, and they barely get moments to showcase their comic strengths.
Supporting Cast
The rest of the cast does what is required, fitting into their parts without overshadowing the leads. However, their characters could have been developed better for more impact.
Technical Aspects
Director Navaneeth Sriram makes a promising debut with clear intent, but the second half needed tighter writing and better narrative progression. With more refined scripts, he seems capable of delivering stronger films in the future.
The production values are decent, and Vishwanath Reddy’s cinematography elevates the visual appeal. Leon James contributes pleasant music—especially the marriage song—but his background score feels overpowering at times. Editor Raghavendra Thirun maintains good rhythm in the first half, though the latter portions needed the same crispness.
Verdict
Overall, Premante is a romantic crime comedy that works in parts and offers enough light-hearted moments to keep things going. The lead pair’s chemistry adds warmth, while Suma and Vennela Kishore’s comedic presence injects consistent fun. However, an uneven second half, compromised logic, and underutilized characters stop the film from fully delivering on its promise.
If you enjoy feel-good humour and don’t mind overlooking a few narrative hiccups, Premante makes for a decent, one-time watch with moderated expectations.
