Pallichattambi is for Everyone: Tovino & Kayadu
Malayalam star Tovino Thomas headlines the big-budget film Pallichattambi, directed by Dijo Jose Antony. Produced by Noufael, Brijesh, Chanakya, Chaitanya, and Charan under the banners of Worldwide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainments, the film features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead.
With strong buzz across the country, Pallichattambi is gearing up for a grand pan-India theatrical release on April 10th in five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. In a recent interaction, the lead actors shared interesting insights about the film and their journey.
Tovino Thomas speaks about the film
Tovino revealed that his collaboration with director Dijo had been long overdue. Though they had discussed multiple ideas in the past, scheduling conflicts delayed their partnership.
“When Dijo narrated Pallichattambi, I immediately found it exciting. Once both of us wrapped up our prior commitments, including his film Jana Gana Mana, we finally came together for this project,” he said.
Talking about his transformation, Tovino shared that he underwent a significant physical change for the role.
“My character required a strong and powerful presence. I stopped dieting, gained weight, and altered my hairstyle and mustache to suit the role,” he added.
He also praised Dijo’s calm and composed working style, calling the experience comfortable and collaborative.
On balancing work and personal life, Tovino mentioned his preference for taking breaks.
“I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. These breaks help me observe the industry objectively,” he explained.
Addressing his connection with Telugu cinema, he said:
“I’ve had discussions about Telugu projects, but nothing has materialized yet. I’m happy that Telugu audiences appreciate my Malayalam films.”
Tovino also highlighted the contributions of the producers and music director Jakes Bejoy, stating that the music adds emotional depth and intensity to the film.
Describing the story, he said:
“Pallichattambi is a fictional narrative inspired by incidents from 1950s Kerala. It reflects the socio-political atmosphere of that era while delivering a strong message about humanity—that no one is superior or inferior.”
He clarified that the film does not target any religion.
“Though some scenes are set in a church, the story would remain the same in any place of worship. The focus is purely on human values and social issues.”
Kayadu Lohar on her role and experience
Kayadu Lohar described Pallichattambi as a milestone in her career.
“After watching my performance in Pathonpatham Noottandu, Dijo approached me with this story. I immediately felt it would be a special film,” she shared.
She plays the character Rebecca, which she describes as unique and performance-driven.
“Rebecca is intellectual, grounded, and not portrayed in a glamorous way. It’s a role with depth and importance,” she said.
Kayadu also spoke about her preparation process for working in unfamiliar languages.
“I attend workshops, work with language experts, and spend time understanding the script before shooting,” she explained.
She admitted that acting alongside Tovino was initially intimidating.
“His performance level is extremely high. I was a bit nervous at first, but I learned a lot from him and felt inspired,” she said.
The actress revealed that she appears in two distinct looks in the film and credited the director for having clear vision regarding her character.
A film for all audiences
Both actors emphasized that Pallichattambi is a clean, emotional entertainer suitable for all age groups.
“It’s a beautiful film that families can watch together. There are no restrictions—once you watch it, you’ll understand the intention behind it,” they concluded.
With a powerful story, strong performances, and emotional depth, Pallichattambi promises to be a meaningful cinematic experience when it hits theatres on April 10th.
