OG: Is It a Copy of Ajith’s Film? Director Sujeeth Clears the Air

OG: Is It a Copy of Ajith’s Film? Director Sujeeth Clears the Air

Whenever a big film releases, there’s always a section of people who begin digging for negatives—questioning whether it has copied scenes, borrowed from other films, or lacks originality. The same wave of comparisons and allegations has now hit Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s latest blockbuster, OG.

On social media, discussions went viral claiming that OG carries a backdrop similar to Tamil star Ajith Kumar’s film Good Bad Ugly.

In a recent interview, director Sujeeth was asked about this comparison. The anchor pointed out that people were calling his film another version of Good Bad Ugly. Responding in his trademark style, Sujeeth clarified:

“Before director Adhik Ravichandran even put pen to paper for Good Bad Ugly, I had already released the teaser of OG. Adhik is someone who respects me a lot. Back when I made Saaho with Prabhas, he sent me a long message praising my work.”

Sujeeth explained further that he had completed writing OG and had even shot katana action sequences much before Good Bad Ugly was even announced.

“But after that, several films started featuring katana fights. Even if others didn’t do it intentionally, audiences tend to believe that the film which comes out first is the original, and anything later looks copied. In such cases, directors like me end up facing damage,” he said.

Acknowledging the comparisons, Sujeeth added:

“Some people will never accept success easily. Yes, I’ve heard about the Good Bad Ugly comparisons. But honestly, I feel happy for Adhik’s achievements. When I saw Mark Antony, I realized how talented he is. All of us directors dream of making films with star heroes. I personally admire Ajith sir a lot—directing him is no small feat. That film also had Arjun Das as the villain. Interestingly, I had already cast and shot with Arjun Das for OG before he joined Good Bad Ugly.”

Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith and Trisha, was released on April 10, 2025. Like OG, it also revolves around a gangster backdrop, which is why the comparisons surfaced in the first place.

In the end, Sujeeth made it clear—OG is an original creation, not a copy.
