NBK Enters World Book of Records for Completing 50 Years in Cinema

Tollywood’s iconic actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna has been honored with a rare global recognition, securing a place in the World Book of Records – UK (Gold Edition) for completing 50 glorious years in Indian cinema. This milestone makes Balakrishna the first-ever Indian actor to receive such an honor, marking a proud moment not just for his fans but for Telugu cinema as a whole.

The felicitation ceremony was held on August 30, attended by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and veteran actress Jayasudha as chief guests. Film industry stalwarts including directors and producers were also present to extend their wishes.

Adding to the occasion, Balakrishna announced a donation of ₹50 lakh towards the CM Relief Fund to support flood-affected regions in Telangana.

Balakrishna’s Gratitude

Addressing the gathering, Balakrishna expressed heartfelt thanks to his parents, legendary actor-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and Basavatarakam, for being his guiding inspiration.

“It is because of my fans’ love and blessings that I have achieved these victories and records. Cinema is a powerful medium, and I dedicate this recognition to my directors, producers, my family, and my fans who stood by me for five decades. This journey will continue with the same passion and energy,” he said.

Balakrishna recalled his debut at the age of 13 with ‘Tatamma Kala’, and highlighted milestones such as Aditya 369 (India’s first sci-fi film), Legend, Gautamiputra Satakarni, and Akhanda. Over 50 years, he has acted in 110 films, across all genres.

He also emphasized his commitment to public service, citing his role as a three-time MLA from Hindupur, and his philanthropic contributions through the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.
