A Legacy in Cinema

Born on June 10, 1960, in Madras (now Chennai), Balakrishna is the son of the legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). He embarked on his acting journey at the age of 14 with the film Tatamma Kala (1974). Over the past five decades, Balakrishna has appeared in more than a hundred films, portraying a diverse array of characters that have left an indelible mark on Telugu cinema. His notable works include Mangammagari Manavadu (1984), Muddula Mavayya (1989), Aditya 369 (1991), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Samarasimha Reddy (1999), Narasimha Naidu (2001), Simha (2010), Legend (2014), and Akhanda (2021). His performances have earned him multiple accolades, including three Nandi Awards for Best Actor.

Political Endeavors and Public Service

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Balakrishna has been an active participant in politics. Since 2014, he has represented the Hindupuram constituency as a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, demonstrating a commitment to public service. In addition to his political role, he serves as the Chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Hyderabad. Under his leadership, the hospital has been instrumental in providing affordable cancer treatment to countless patients, reflecting his dedication to social welfare.

Path to the Padma Bhushan

In recent years, Balakrishna has continued to captivate audiences with successful films such as Akhanda, Veerasimha Reddy, and Bhagavanth Kesari. Looking ahead, he is set to embark on his 109th film project, tentatively titled Daku Maharaj or Sarkaru Seetharam, directed by Bobby. Additionally, he has announced Akhanda 2: Tandavam, a sequel that has generated significant anticipation among fans.
