“Markandeya” Becomes First Film of DilRaju Dreams
To nurture and encourage young talent, renowned producer Dil Raju has launched a new banner titled DilRaju Dreams. The first project under this prestigious banner is Markandeya, starring young hero Vikranth in the lead role. The film, directed by Sistla VMK, is positioned as a mythological thriller with a modern narrative sensibility.
The title glimpse of Markandeya was grandly unveiled today at an event held in Hyderabad, receiving an encouraging response from industry members and audiences alike.
Vikranth, who earned appreciation with Santhana Prapthirasthu, is expected to take a major step forward in his career with this project, being the first hero launched under the DilRaju Dreams banner.
DOP Jagadeesh Varma Bhoopathi Raju said,
“This is my first film as a DOP. I sincerely thank Dil Raju garu, Vikranth, and director Sistla VMK for giving me this opportunity. With this glimpse, it truly feels like our heartbeat has just begun.”
Music director Hari SR shared,
“I’m grateful to my mentor Thaman S garu. The script is extremely strong, and I strongly believe this film’s music will gain global recognition. I thank the team for trusting me with this opportunity.”
Director Sistla VMK said,
“I am thankful to Dil Raju garu and his team for believing in and supporting newcomers like us. His words about working relentlessly are something I will never forget. We used AI only as a support tool during the process—no AI-generated visuals are included in the film. Vikranth is my Markandeya. From today onwards, he belongs to all of you as Markandeya.”
Hero Vikranth explained the film’s concept,
“While Hollywood has popularized multiverse and superhero concepts in recent years, such ideas have existed in Indian mythology for thousands of years. Markandeya is a modern, mystical thriller inspired by epic themes. Though we are a young team, a film of this scale needs proper guidance, and Dil Raju garu has supported us at every step—from script structure to budgeting and audience reach. This film involves extensive CG work, but above all, we are prioritizing human emotions. The story presents a contemporary version of Markandeya and how he overcomes challenges through faith and resilience.”
Producer Dil Raju concluded with a powerful note,
“My advance Mahashivaratri wishes to everyone. Our Sri Venkateswara Creations banner has completed 60 films in 23 years, and DilRaju Dreams is an extension of that journey. With star-driven films, success is uncertain, but with strong scripts and mid-range films, we’ve seen nearly 70% success. I saw the hunger and commitment in Vikranth and strongly believed in the content of Markandeya. That’s why we chose it as the first film under DilRaju Dreams.”
“This film involves significant CG work and is planned for a Mahashivaratri release next year. Under DilRaju Dreams, we are producing four more films—two for OTT and two for theatrical release. When we announced the banner, we received over 330 scripts, and from them, five to six films will be finalized this year. Our aim is to continue promoting fresh talent with innovative storytelling, just like we did at the start of our journey.”
