Positioned as a murder mystery with supernatural elements, Maargan also marks the debut of Vijay Antony’s nephew Ajay Dhishan, who plays the antagonist.
The ensemble cast includes Samuthirakani, Mahanati Shankar, Preethika, Brigida, Vinod Sagar, Ajay Dhishan, Deepshika, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru Archana, Kanimozhi, and Anthagaram Natarajan. With post-production now complete, promotional efforts are in full swing. The trailer, recently unveiled in Hyderabad, has generated significant buzz, hinting at a suspenseful, edge-of-the-seat narrative packed with action and emotion.
“I’ve known director Leo John Paul for five years. He’s one of the top editors, working with leading directors in the industry. His storytelling in Maargan impressed me instantly. I’m proud to introduce my sister Jaya’s son Ajay Dhishan through this film. He previously assisted me on Bichagadu 2, and his dedication won me over. Ram sir, a long-time friend who released my first Telugu film Nakili, is once again supporting me with Maargan. This marks my 12th collaboration with Bhashya Shree Garu, who penned the dialogues and lyrics. Deepshika’s role will be a standout, and Brigida has delivered a solid performance. Maargan is a gripping supernatural thriller — please experience it in theaters on June 27.”
Director Leo John Paul:
“I’m grateful to Vijay Antony sir and Ramanjaneyulu sir for believing in me. Though I’ve edited many films, directing one was a new challenge. Vijay sir’s multi-talented support — as an actor, director, editor, and producer — made the process smooth. We’ve invested significant effort into sequences like the underwater scenes. Maargan is inspired by my love for Rajamouli sir’s films like Eega and Magadheera. Ajay has done an exceptional job, especially considering this is his first acting role. Deepshika and Brigida were also fantastic. I hope audiences enjoy this supernatural thriller.”
Presenter J. Ramanjaneyulu:
“I’ve known him since his early days as a music director. When he expressed his desire to act, I was surprised, but his conviction was clear. From Nakili to now, I’ve seen his evolution. He’s a humble, grounded person and is now paving the way for his nephew Ajay. It’s heartening to see someone so selfless and generous. The media should support such people. Maargan deserves to be seen and appreciated.”
Ajay Dhishan:
“I’m honored to be introduced through Maargan under Vijay sir’s banner. Director Leo John Paul is a brilliant creator and mentor. Brigida, as a police officer, delivered a powerful performance, and Deepshika was wonderful too. I’m grateful to everyone who made this possible. Please support us on June 27.”
Deepshika shared her excitement:
“Today is special — we released the Telugu trailer and celebrated my birthday! I’m thankful to Leo John Paul for this opportunity. His work as an editor is legendary, and now he has directed like a seasoned pro. I immediately said yes to this project because of Vijay Antony’s reputation for meaningful cinema. Ajay reminds me of Vijay sir — they’re so alike. I’m proud to be part of Maargan and confident it will succeed.”
Brigida:
“Maargan is close to my heart — it’s my first release this year. I believe patience pays off, and this film is proof of that. Both Vijay sir and Leo John Paul sir were my seniors in college, and working with them has been a joy. Ajay delivered like a seasoned actor, not a newcomer. I played a cop for the first time and enjoyed it thoroughly. Please support Maargan on June 27.”
Writer Bhashya Shree:
“Vijay Antony always chooses unique stories. Maargan, or Maargam in Telugu, is a concept-rich film. Ajay, our Telugu boy, performed well alongside Deepshika and Brigida. There’s a secret behind Vijay Antony’s look in the film — find out on June 27! I’m proud to have written the dialogues and lyrics for this exciting project.”
