“Lucky to Make My Debut with Tatvam”: Dashvika K.
Telugu audiences have always welcomed fresh and innovative stories. When a film has an engaging narrative and keeps viewers hooked from beginning to end, even a small-budget production can make a strong impact. Murder mystery thrillers, in particular, have a special appeal because of their suspense, twists, and intriguing screenplays.
Now, Tatvam is gearing up for its theatrical release with a unique storyline and intriguing elements. Starring Dinesh Tej and Dashvika K. in the lead roles, the film is directed by Arjun Kola and jointly produced by Trayathi Ishani Creations and S.K. Productions. Vamsi Seemakurthi and Swetha Pashupulate are the producers. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2.
Ahead of the release, heroine Dashvika K. interacted with the media and spoke about her debut, her character, working with the team, and what audiences can expect from Tatvam.
Tell us about your background?
My name is Dashvika K., and I am from Vizag. Tatvam is my first film. I was looking for an opportunity to make my debut as a heroine when I got this project. I auditioned for the film and was eventually selected. Earlier, I also had the opportunity to act alongside Vijay Deverakonda in a commercial.
How does it feel to make your debut as a heroine with Tatvam?
I feel very lucky to have received a role with good scope for performance in my very first film. When I heard the story of Tatvam, I found it extremely interesting. My character has a lot of emotional depth, and the story is set against a village backdrop, which gives the film a distinctive feel.
Your character appears to have negative shades in the trailer. What can you reveal about her?
My character does have certain grey shades, but she is someone audiences will definitely connect with and like. I don’t want to reveal too much about her because several interesting aspects of the character are connected to the story. I would like audiences to discover them while watching the film.
What kind of character do you play in Tatvam?
She is a soft-spoken and kind-hearted girl who supports the hero. She stands by him while he investigates the murder and helps him during his journey. Overall, she is essentially a positive character, although there are certain shades to her personality that audiences will understand better after watching the film.
What can audiences expect from Tatvam?
Films with concepts like this are more commonly seen in Malayalam cinema, so I am happy that a film with a similar treatment is being made in Telugu. Tatvam is engaging throughout and does not feel boring at any point. It is a murder mystery thriller with all the elements audiences expect from the genre.
The story unfolds against a village backdrop, which adds another interesting dimension to the film. Personally, I am also a shy person, so in some ways I could relate to my character quite naturally.
When did you decide that you wanted to become an actress?
I have loved acting since childhood. When I was in third grade, I even told my teacher that I wanted to become an actress. I have always been interested in cinema and modelling.
However, my parents wanted me to complete my education before entering the film industry. I respected their decision and completed my studies. Today, they are completely supportive of my acting career. I also underwent acting training under Mahathi Bikshu, which helped me prepare myself for this profession.
Were you nervous about entering the film industry because of the things you had heard about it?
Yes, I was definitely scared and quite tense before entering the industry. I had heard many things about the film world, so naturally there was some apprehension. But once I entered the industry, I understood that we have to learn how to manage things and grow in whichever field we choose.
Thankfully, my experience has been quite smooth so far. I also realised that the industry is not as bad as people outside sometimes perceive it to be.
How was your experience working with Dinesh Tej?
Dinesh is very supportive and helped me a lot throughout the film. He was especially helpful during the action sequences. Since this was my first film, his support gave me a lot of confidence. His character in Tatvam is also very interesting, and I believe audiences will appreciate it.
What can you tell us about director Arjun Kola?
Arjun Kola is a very calm and composed person. He has a software job, and I was actually surprised when I learned that he took three months’ leave from his job to make this film. That itself shows how passionate he is about cinema.
He has great clarity about what he wants from every scene and every character. Working with him was a good learning experience for me.
What are the other major highlights of the film?
Apart from the story and narration, I believe the music and background score will be major highlights. Chetan Bharadwaj’s music and background score complement the mood of the film very well and enhance the suspense and emotional elements.
Does the film justify the title Tatvam?
Tatvam is a very different and unique title. Initially, all of us were a little worried about whether audiences would connect with it. However, the response we received from everyone who watched the film was very positive.
I strongly believe that after watching the film on October 2, audiences will feel that the title is as different as the film itself.
What kind of roles would you like to explore in the future?
I want to explore different kinds of roles and genres. I am particularly interested in doing love stories. At the same time, I want to choose characters that offer me good scope to perform and help me grow as an actress.
What are your upcoming projects?
I have a Tamil film that is scheduled to begin in November. I am also currently in discussions for a few Telugu projects. I hope to announce more details soon.
