Kishkindhapuri Promises a Never-Before Horror Experience – Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is all set to thrill audiences with his upcoming mysterious occult thriller Kishkindhapuri. Directed by Kaushik Pegallapati and produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner, the film features Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead. With the promotional content already generating strong buzz, the movie is gearing up for release on September 12th. On this occasion, the actor interacted with the media and shared his excitement about the film.
This is your first attempt at a horror film. How was the experience?
I’ve always believed in doing films that entertain audiences. Most of my films have been mass commercial entertainers, but personally, I really enjoy doing something different. When director Kaushik narrated Kishkindhapuri, I loved the story instantly. Horror-thriller is a genre I’m particularly fond of, so I was eager to take it up.
We recently watched the film in theatres for the first time and it turned out amazing—especially the sound. Radha Krishna, the sound designer who worked for Salaar, Animal, and Kantara, has done outstanding work here. The sound design is mind-blowing and gives the film a unique edge. This is not just horror—it’s horror blended with mystery, presented with superb technical finesse.
Earlier, my thriller Rakshasudu received great applause, especially from women audiences. With Kishkindhapuri, I believe we are offering a fresh cinematic experience that will leave viewers thrilled and satisfied.
Tell us about producer Sahu Garapati’s support.
Kaushik had a strong story, but films of this genre often face budget limitations. However, Sahu Garapati Garu ensured there were no compromises—be it technical standards or graphics. He gave us everything we needed to create a world-class horror thriller. Honestly, I feel proud to be part of a film that proves horror can be presented on such a grand scale.
How is the action element in this film?
The action is completely organic—it emerges from the story itself, not as an add-on. With visuals, VFX, and sound design, the audience will experience edge-of-the-seat thrills. To be frank, I haven’t seen a horror film with such a strong storyline in recent times. The blend of horror and mystery is what makes Kishkindhapuri truly unique.
Anupama’s performance will also surprise audiences. She has played a very challenging role that’s completely different from her previous works.
Personally, I’ve always enjoyed horror films. Back in my teenage days, I was a huge fan of them, and even in our own banner, films like Kanchana were favorites of mine. Interestingly, the censor board members told us it’s been a long time since they saw such a serious horror film. That was very encouraging.
And yes, horror films are best enjoyed with a packed theatre. The energy, the screams, the excitement—it’s on another level when you watch it together.

We heard a special vintage radio set was built for this film?
Yes, we designed a “Suvarnamaya Radio Station” set specifically for the film. We also shot in a real abandoned house that was almost in ruins. Later, as a gesture, we helped them rebuild it into a new structure. These locations added a lot of authenticity to the visuals.
What do you usually look for before accepting a film?
First, I look at the content. Recently, I’ve developed a stronger urge to challenge myself and prove my range as an actor. When I play a new character, the energy I feel on set is different—it’s something I’m enjoying a lot these days.
Can you share about your upcoming projects?
Yes. Tyson Naidu has already wrapped up shooting and is currently in post-production. Hindhava is in its final schedule—it got slightly delayed due to the strike, otherwise it would’ve been completed by now. Both are very different films. Apart from these, I also have a new-age thriller lined up with Polimera director Anil.
