“Keerthy Suresh Leads the Chaos in Uppu Kappurambu, Streaming July 4 on Prime Video”
Prime Video, India’s leading entertainment platform, has dropped the trailer for its upcoming Telugu Original film Uppu Kappurambu — a razor-sharp satire set in a fictional South Indian village grappling with a strange crisis: there’s no space left to bury the dead.
Slated to premiere globally on July 4, the film will stream exclusively on Prime Video across India and in over 240 countries and territories. It will be available in Telugu, with dubs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, and subtitles in 12 languages including English.
Produced by Radhika Lavu under the banner Ellanar Films Pvt Ltd, Uppu Kappurambu is directed by Ani I.V. Sasi and penned by Vasanth Maringanti. The film features a stellar cast led by Suhas and National Award-winning actor Keerthy Suresh, along with Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari in pivotal roles.
A Quirky Crisis in Chitti Jayapuram
Set in the early 1990s, the film takes place in the quirky village of Chitti Jayapuram, where the villagers are confronted with an absurd dilemma — a shortage of burial space. Enter Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh), an earnest and idealistic new village head, who must navigate resistance from conservative locals who aren’t thrilled with a woman in charge. Seeking help, she turns to Chinna (Suhas), an eccentric graveyard caretaker with his own hidden agenda.
From bizarre graveyard slot lotteries to escalating drama, the trailer teases a delightful mix of humour, emotion, and satire — capturing a community at the edge of absurdity and transformation.
Keerthy Suresh on Playing Apoorva
“What drew me to Uppu Kappurambu was its unique blend of satire and heart,” said Keerthy Suresh. “Apoorva is a character unlike any I’ve played before — driven, idealistic, and sometimes in over her head. It was such a joy to step into her shoes, especially in a story that feels so deeply rooted in our rural ethos. This film delivers laughter while gently nudging viewers to think, and that’s what makes it special.”
Suhas on His Role as Chinna
“Chinna is easily one of the most unusual roles I’ve ever taken on,” shared Suhas. “He’s simple on the surface but caught in a very peculiar situation. The trailer gives just a glimpse of the madness. The film is quirky, full of emotion, and never tries too hard to deliver a message. That balance is what makes it so memorable. I can’t wait for audiences around the world to dive into this world on Prime Video.”
